Top 10 First Half Of 2014

2014 is really boring for me thus far as far as music goes. At this point last year, I had a full top 10 that I loved. This year, I love the top 5 only.
1Intervals
A Voice Within

(Melodic Djent) I love the melodies on this. The inclusion of a vocalist complements their sound perfectly. ''Ephemeral'' and ''The Self Surrendered'' are my two favorite songs of the year so far by a pretty good margin.
2Destrage
Are You Kidding Me? No.

(Progressive/Tech Metal) This album is insane. Technically mindblowing, dynamic and catchy as f*ck.
3Monuments
The Amanuensis

(Djent) The only reason this isn't in the top 2 is because I only downloaded the leak with low audio quality and it keeps me from enjoying it a little. The vocals in particular are probably the best I have heard in a ''Djent'' album.
4Animals as Leaders
The Joy of Motion

(Instrumental Prog/Djent) Sometimes the instrumental work can get a little bit unfocused and tedious, but the album as a whole is brilliant. Beautiful and impressive.
5Far From Reality
Reminiscence

(Prog Metal) A young and extremely talented prog/metal band. If they can find their own sound and work on the vocals a bit, they could be a genre leader extremely soon.
6Fail Emotions
Renaissance

(Trance Djent/Core) Their mixture of Metalcore and Trance still works as well as usual. However, the fact that only 4 of the 7 tracks are actual songs really puzzles me.
7Demon Hunter
Extremist

(Metalcore) Another solid metalcore album from Demon Hunter, how surprising.
8Anberlin
Lowborn

(Alt Rock) I know this is cheating cause the album isn't even out yet but whatever. Lowborn is essentially Vital part.2, and for me it's not exactly an enthusiastic statement.
9Linkin Park
The Hunting Party

(Rap/Metal/Alt Rock/Punk) Just for having the balls to go into such a heavier direction, this album deserves credit. It's not incredible but has its moments of brilliance.
10Anathema
Distant Satellites

(Atmospheric Rock) As usual, Anathema deliver their share of relaxing melodies. Nothing really memorable for me, but pleasant.
