A fine day for metal.
1Bekhira
Demo '96

Really good black metal demo. Fairly standard stuff with a bit of keyboard
work. I believe there's a remastered version as well in case you want some
cleaner production.
2Osculum Infame
Dor-Nu-Fauglith

I don't often recommend symphonic black metal, but this is pretty exceptional.
3Thy Worshiper
Popiol - Introibo ad Altare Dei

Polish black metal you could easily call a precursor to Drudkh and Nokturnal
Mortum. Very good stuff.
4 Riger
Der Wanderer

Enjoyable album out of Germany with some keys akin to Nokturnal Mortum's
first couple of albums. Pretty melodic.
5Tyrant
Under the Dark Mystic Sky

Symphonic black metal from Japan. Fairly impressive.
6Pest (Deu)
Ara

Oddly reminiscent of Fell Voices at times. Love the production on this.
Excellent all-around release.
7Drautran
Unter dem Banner der Nordwinde

Some may be familiar with this German black metal band's release Throne
of the Depths. This is better.
8Haemoth
Vice, Suffering and Destruction

Heard stuff from this band years ago and finally came back around to
getting this. Pretty straightforward but good nonetheless.
9Various Artists (Metal)
Wurzelgeister

Perhaps my favorite black metal comp. This has tracks from a lot of the big
name German players (Lunar Aurora, Nagelfar, Nocte Obducta, etc.) plus
Paysage. Pretty much everything on here is awesome.
10Avenger
Shadows of the Damned

Blackened death metal from the Czech Republic. Has riffs, jams hard, go
pick it up.
11Rites of Thy Degringolade
Totality

Another blackened death metal release, this time from Canada. Less old-
school and less more dissonant than the aforementioned album.
12Excruciate
Passage of Life

About what you would expect from a Swedish OSDM album, but this is
quality through and through. Superb riffage.
13Burial (Ned)
Relinquished Souls

Some old-school shit out of the Dutch scene. Goes hard and has some
great vox and cool solos.
14Coercion
Forever Dead

Another album from Sweden. Less old-school with a bit cleaner production
but still great.
15Bloodstone (Swe)
Hour of the Gate

Again from Sweden but this time on the melodeath side of things. Still
aggressive, though and has some quality riffs.
16Damnation
Rebel Souls

Polish, I believe. Longer tracks with good transitions and some cool
keyboard work at parts. Really digging this one.
17Caducity
Whirler of Fate

Awesome album art. Awesome album. Good vox and even better lyrics.
18Anesthesy
Exaltation of the Eclipse

Belgian like Caducity but with more in common with the Scandinavian scene.
19Mortem (Per)
De Natura Daemonum

A more recent release but still great. I also recommend getting Demon
Stories from these guys.
20Psychosis
Face

I think this band is also known as Mass Psychosis. Great demo out of New
Jersey that easily sounds like it could have come from the Bay Area.
21Poison (Deu)
Into the Abyss

A lovely little death thrash gem out of Germany. Ballin' riffs all day. And dem
vox.
22Protector
A Shedding of Skin

And another death thrash album from Germany released several years later.
23Misery
Mystic

A really sweet early death doom album out of Switzerland. Owns.
24Toadliquor
Feel My Hate, the Power Is the Weight

Some really badass early sludge from the States. This shit rips.
25Hard Jams Inc.
Hawks Rawk

Essential.
