I've started reading a lot more recently, so I'm looking for some music book rrecommendations to stock up on. I'm after pretty much anything, whether rit's about specific artists or a more general subject matter. Anyway, I had a rday off today; here are the records I've listened to.
|1||Sun Kil Moon|
Among The Leaves
Still haven't gotten around to listening to any of Mark Kozelek's other Sun Kil Moon
records, but I really enjoy this.
One of the first records I truly fell in love with, and still one of my favourites. Songs
like Release and Black have only grown on me as the years have passed.
Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
No reasoning required.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Pretty sure I'd not listened to this in full since 2010. Still probably in my top 10 or
so of the decade so far.
I bought the next six at Record Collector in Sheffield this weekend. Still the best
record shop I've ever visited.
All My Relations
Selected Ambient Works, Vol. II
Slept to this last night, having shamefully never listened to Aphex Twin before.
Didn't make it very far, but it sounds promising.
|8||Belle And Sebastian|
Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant
My least favourite Belle & Sebastian album, but I was always going to get a vinyl
copy anyway because, y'know.. it's Belle & Sebastian.
Jason Molina wrote beautiful songs. It's tragic that I and many others are only
discovering his music after his death.
Not really getting the fuss about this... but then I've only listened to it once.
-Lords Of Chaos - The bloody rise of the satanic metal underground
-The Heroin Diaries (Nikki Sixx's diary during his struggle with heroin addiction. In no way a Crue fan but this was still a captivating read)
Errr he might turn up itt but if he doesn't i'd definitely drop liledman a shout
If you're a fan of Frank Zappa I highly suggest you read his autobiography. Easily one of the most entertaining books I've ever read.
?uestlove recently released his memoirs as well, I'm just diving into them now, but it looks like it's worth a read.
"33 1/3" it's a book about slint's "spiderland"
damn, 10 blew me away on first listen
the 33/3 about paul's boutique has been my favorite so far
Fouth, 33 1/3 is a series about a bunch of albums
Thanks guys. I've got a bunch of 33 1/3 books already. They vary in quality but the good ones are really excellent and the series as a whole is a great concept.
Holy shit 10
33 1/3 is an incredible series, I've read like 30 of their books already
our band could be your life - michael azzerad
get in the van - henry rollins
how to lose friends and alienate people - mike portnoy
