10.29.12 | I gave my thoughts on the other two music lists, might as well hit this one despite my knowledge of electronic based music being zero.
Track one: To start things off, the weird shit in the beginning gives off a very strange impression. It turns me off instantly and makes me want to dismiss this as some noise kinda project. Come 0:23 and my immediate thoughts are "Oh snap, I could rap over this". I could, seriously. The intro is fine now that this gnarly beat has started because it acts as a nice prelude. Now, I would limit that reverbed snare hit to every four or eight measures. At every measure, it's just too often. Use it as an emphasis. That little synth that chimes in at 0:30 is far too loud and should be pushed into the background. The lead at 1:33 sounds like it's underwater and like I am drunk. 2:08 watch the volume going on. When it raises, it hits too high in the mix. If you are planning to keep this instrumental, I would condense this song into a shorter mix. Without vocals, there isn't enough to hold 4 minutes of attention when not much changes other than subtle melody in the background.
But seriously, I could rap over this. I dig it. |
