| 2011 So Far
Pretty good year so far. I've been trying to keep on top of things and
listen to everything that looks interesting to me. | 6 | | Ulcerate The Destroyers of All
To be honest, this hasn't been doing much for me. It's pretty cool for a
while but the vocals are just not as good as the rest of the content, and
they really grind me down over the course of 50 minutes. I tend to like my
death metal stupid and violent anyways. | 5 | | Burzum Fallen
I never got around to listening to Belus but I did listen to this. I feel like
Varg is very polarizing these days and I tend to find myself in the middle.
While this is no Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, it is better than some of the soundoffs
have made it seem. Also, despite what Varg says, I don't think this is as
innovative as he seems to think. A lot of it sounds like typical BM to me. | 4 | | Maths Ascent
Definitely good. I appreciate it's short length because that's how I've
always felt screamo and certain types of hardcore are most digestible. I
really want to check out there split and full-length after listening to this. | 3 | | Bright Eyes The People's Key
I'm definitely not digging this as much as earlier Bright Eyes. There are
some good tracks that make it worthwhile but I feel like the album is a lot
less relate-able then old Bright Eyes, and that's half the reason why I loved
it so much. Again, I'm going to give it some time to grow on me. | 2 | | The Carrier Blind to What is Right
Haven't really given this as many listens as I would like, and I haven't
listened to any of their earlier albums. I'm not super into it, but it has some
pretty good moments and I'm hoping it'll grow on me. | 1 | | New Lows Harvest of the Carcass
I'm really surprised at the negative reaction this has received here. I found
this to be amazing. The last thirty seconds of Plaguegrounds send me into
tonic clonic seizures and the rest of the album is fantastic. If you haven't
heard it yet, check it out. | |

02.10.11 | What about you guys? What have you been diggin' this year? | Satellite
02.10.11 | i think 3 is the only 2011 album i've heard so far. fuck this having a life business. | Spec
02.10.11 | 2 is solid, but nothing more than that. | FreePizzaDay
02.10.11 | That's what I've been hearing about 2. Then again, I have the advantage of having never heard "No Love Can Save Me," which apparently is much, much better than this album. Hopefully the fact that I went into it with no expectations allows me to appreciate it more.
And yeah, having a life sucks. Or so I hear, lol. | Deathcar
02.10.11 | Listen to The Carriers first two albums, they're immense slabs of melodic hardcore.
I take it you've heard the new Defeater? It's only a 2 song preview EP, but it's still one of the best things to come out this year. | FreePizzaDay
02.10.11 | I actually have held out on getting it, just because every time I buy one of those preview EPs, I listen to it a ton, and then when the album actually comes out I'm sick of that song and it breaks the continuity of the album for me. I'm aware how OCD that sounds. But yeah, that album should be amazing. Defeater's the best hardcore band out there, in my opinion. | amanwithahammer
02.10.11 | All I'm really digging so far are the new Radwimps singles and about half the songs on the new The Jury & The Saints album. Yeah, I know you guys have no idea what I'm talking about. | whywontyoudie
02.10.11 | i was completely unaware that Maths had a new release. getting now. | captaincrunch11
02.10.11 | New Lows is fucking sick, people need to check it out | patroneyes
02.10.11 | new destroyer album is the tits | FreePizzaDay
02.10.11 | "New Lows is fucking sick, people need to check it out"
Right there with you. It's as heavy as anything I've ever listened to but it's so much more than that. It's been criminally overlooked around here considering how much positive the response has been everywhere else. |
