Fuck yeah, Hammock.
Unbelievable. 'Raising Your Voice...', 'This Binary Universe' and 'The Earth Is Not...' are the three albums that I listen to while playing EVE (a space exploration game). While floating in space, I love albums that have few vocals and a nice sci-fi theme, and all three of them work well (but I promise, you'll find very little that matches the feel of 'This Binary Universe').
You might try:
Failure - 'Fantastic Planet'
...and fuck, why not:
Nine Inch Nails - 'Ghosts I-IV' |
Masochist
01.20.11 | Also:
BT - 'Movement In Still Life'
Celldweller - 'Celldweller'
Both of those have some interesting sci-fi soundscapes, though they both also contain a large pop element, and so they might not be exactly what you're looking for. |
