Atari
12.14.17 | nice list Lucid. Indian Summer is potentially the standout for me on Blood Cultures but I seem to be alone in that regard.
looking forward to seeing some of your favorite albums as well! |
luci
12.14.17 | @Blush: I appreciate you for being the sweetest. Bobby is def the runner up on that album for me.
@Johnny: Album fell off a bit but the highlights are still the most moving songs this year. Don't think of it as a winter record per se but it's adaptable.
@Atari: Indian Summer got the most hype before the album dropped (it's been circulating for a while) so I can see why it's your standout. Aoty list next week~ |

12.14.17 | cool list
tbh i havent heard many of these and of those only really like 2 of them (both of wils albums - i cant really count the mount eerie album because i dont know if i can say that i 'like' it considering it makes me completely miserable) but my favs are Human Bog and Laura Corporeal.
I didnt like that Kelela album as much I was hoping I would. I couldn't really pick a favourite yet. maybe it will grow tho. and I didnt get that Hundred Waters album. Feel like I'm missing something.
Aside from those and bearing in mind that I don't really like Arca much is there anything on here that you think I should really check before the year ends? |

12.14.17 | @ali im a fickle fuck with a pretty emotive connection with music. sometimes its less about disliking something as much as not being in the right emotional state to enjoy it. some things i can recognize that at one point in the past i may have liked or may like again in the future but at that moment the connection alludes me
im pretty open to whatever and to change my opinions on things, ill check all those. thanks! |

12.16.17 | Funny that when the Lorde album dropped everyone said Green Light was the one of the worst things on it even though at the time I thought it suspiciously sounded top 3 on the thing. Pitchfork ended up saying it was the best on the album too in the end right?
It's just an average pop song to my ears I don't really know what I'm missing. Seems like everyone's had to backtrack with it a little to help prop up the overhyped parent album :/
Just spun it now and it's just an ok radio tune, I don't get any huge emotional message from it.

12.16.17 | Green Light was the top pick from the album on most critics' soty lists. Pitchfork were stanning right away with best new track and ranked it #3 of the year.
Do you think Robyn's "Dancing on my Own" is also average pop music? Lorde tried to write her own version of that song, a "healing on the dancefloor" concept and she pulls it off perfectly imo. The odd choices in the song structure (double pre-chorus, abrupt transitions) channel that stumbling drunk feeling, how scenes suddenly snap into focus. I find it gripping in its progression, a pop song imperfected. Other than that it's just pure euphoria to me idk |
Gyromania
12.16.17 | I enjoy the song but i agree it's overrated. Writer in the dark is my fave |
