Anal.

Actually, I'm slightly new here, been speculating for a very, very long time. I've learned so much from this site, but haven't really gotten into it or written a review or anything. This is my 2009 list. A lot of it isn't in order, and most is subject to change.
1Converge
Axe To Fall

It slays. Not one bad track either. Wretched World is a perfect closer, Dark Horse is the perfect opener, and that breakdown at the end of Axe To Fall is so heavy that my mind can almost not handle it.
2 Bats
Red In Tooth & Claw

It's scientific, and it's post-hardcore. Oh, and the music is good too.
3Gaza
He Is Never Coming Back

I loved the previous album, and this one isn't quite as good (I liked the mathy riffs like the opening to gristle). But this is different, and it crushes. And the transition from the astronomer to tombless makes me want to throw bricks at old people.
4 Native
Wrestling Moves

This band is awesome. And catchy. And for a debut full-length, this is just so mature sounding. Although there is still room for improvement (vary the damn vocal styles, and less interludes por favor).
5Rx Bandits
Mandala

These guys just know how to write amazing albums. Every aspect of this is amazing. The guitars are intricate, the vocals know just how to fit the emotions. And one song is in spanish.
6Every Time I Die
New Junk Aesthetic

Party music for metal-heads. And this band is such a love/hate situation. But they've always been a love of mine.
7Dance Gavin Dance
Happiness

This plus summer equals pure joy. Seriously, this band is meant to sound this joyful and fun. it's their sweet-spot.
8The Antlers
Hospice

I heard this for the first time, and read the lyrics along with the whole thing, and by the finish I felt kind of drained. It's packed with emotion. it's scary, it's deep, and its grim. And this will get higher over time.
9 Touche Amore
To the Beat of A Dead Horse

very well-done post-hardcore/harcore/idontcarecore. I think I'm the only person who thinks "History Reshits Itself" is one of, if not the best track here. The guest vocals fit perfectly.
10Defeater
Lost Ground

If this was a full length, it would be possibly be my favorite album this year. This band pulls off concept albums better than almost any other modern band, especially in the hardcore scene.
