DinosaurJones' Rec Contest ROUND 6!!!!!!

All right, we started with about 20, and we are down to 5. I think I've been pretty easy on the criteria up until now, pretty broad... so to my remaining 5 contestants, UniqueUniverse, Drifter, SCREAM!, TheSpirit and Dewinged, let's make things a little more complicated... This round, I want STORY SONGS. Now, several that I know of have no chorus or refrain, though that's not a requirement. You might be hard pressed to see what I mean, so I'll give several examples. You might think "But Dinosaur, aren't all songs stories?" IN A SENSE, but not quite... let's move onto some examples for your benefit.
1The Raconteurs
Consolers of the Lonely

Carolina Drama

2Lionize
Superczar and the Vulture

The Ballad of Ronnie Buttons

3Sycamore Smith
Redux

The Man With Skeleton Arms - Here's an example that has a refrain/chorus.

4Trophy Scars
Never Born, Never Dead

TheSpirit

Messengers - Okay, this is really good. It's somber and dramatic without being over the top. I've never really delved into Trophy Scars before (I think I've only heard "Darkness, Oh Hell" I really like the vox, and the music is well written, and it's also a great story. The last lines of this song are actually pretty haunting.

4.2/5
5Arlo Guthrie
Alice's Restaurant

Drifter

Alice's Restaurant Massacree - What the actual fuck is going on.

4.2/5
6Simon and Garfunkel
Bridge Over Troubled Water

Dewinged

The Boxer - This is a pleasant track, and it's actually more bombastic than I expected it to be, with a plethora of instruments that come in throughout the run time. I've not really listened to a lot of Simon & Garfunkel, and not been huge into what I've heard, but this is an enjoyable song.

4.0/5
7Tenacious D
Tenacious D

SCREAM!

Tribute - Haven't heard this song in a LONG time. The weird thing is that, for a "comedy" band, Jack Black is actually quite a talented singer, and KG is a VERY talented guitar player. They manage to write some pretty good songs, despite how ridiculous a lot of them are. This song was popular not just because it was funny, but also because it's a good song in it's own right. Also, Jack's scatting/nonsense-spewing is always a good time.

3.7/5 ***ELIMINATED***
8Harry Chapin
Verities & Balderdash

UniqueUniverse

Cat's In the Cradle - I think everyone knows this song, but I haven't actually sat down to really take the time to listen to the lyrics, or in depth. Dammit, what a sad song. I don't think it's the most challenging song musically speaking, but the lyrics are not meant for a good time T_T
