DinosaurJones' Rec Contest ROUND V!!!!!

There are 8 competitors left! We're sticking with a genre restriction this round, and it's going to be one of the lesser seen and maybe lesser appreciated genres on Sput... let's bluesify this contest! Hit me with some BLUES recs! The blues need more love on this site, and in general!
1Stevie Ray Vaughan
Couldn't Stand the Weather

Is this gonna trip some people up? Maybe... let's find out!

Unique Universe

I Put A Spell on You - I don't actually know that I've heard the original of this track. I've heard plenty of covers, but the slightly unhinged vocal performance here really adds a lot to the character of the song. Despite its age, it's easy to see how this is construed as a classic, and why so many people have covered it. The vocals are what make this one.

3James Taylor
James Taylor

Drifter

The Blues Is Just a Bad Dream - Ah yes, James Taylor, the king of easy listening. This song is not beginning at all how I thought it would. Excluding the weird intro (maybe that's just on the remaster?) This is just a smooth, simple track. James Taylor is kind of like the Bob Ross of music. There's just something so soothing and pleasant about him.

Population Override

TheSpirit

Population Override - This song has a great vibe, and more of a blue/fusion type feel, but the musicians arranged here would be hard pressed to not mesh well together. Buckethead and Pinchface always mesh extremely well together, and the keyboards also add an extremely important element to the feel of this song. It's pretty impressive how Buckethead is able to convey emotions in his playing... well, most of it (Most PIkes notwithstanding). This is jsut a great track all around.

SCREAM!

Since I've Been Loving You - Just an absolutely amazing group of musicians. Sometimes Robert Plant can sound like a weird sea bird or something, but this song is very laid-back, and doesn't have too much of his screechier tones. This song has pretty much everything anyone could ask for in a Zeppelin song. WOnderful guitar playing, deep bass groove, and stellar drumming. Nothing at all to complain about with this one.

6Fantastic Negrito
The Last Days Of Oakland

Dctarga

Hump Through the Winter - This has a nice groove to it, I'm into it. As the song goes on though, it doesn't really do too much. It's a lot of the same motifs repeated, which as a solid base is pretty good, but it needs a little something more to push it over the edge. I would've liked a nice solo, the guitar felt surprisingly restrained throughout.

The Beatles

onionbubs

Yer Blues - YES I'M LONELY. WANNA DIEEEE. Oh shit, was this angsty teenage music back in the day? You can't really go wrong with the Beatles, but this is pretty standard stuff. Doesn't mean it's bad, but you know... standard. I'm a fan of Vanilla myself, but ¯_(ツ)_/¯

3.5/5 ***ELIMINATED***
8Jimi Hendrix
Hendrix in the West

Dewinged

Red House - Ah yes, Mr. Hendrix. This is a great track. Between his vocals, and the constantly noodling guitar throughout, this is a track that holds the attention. And it's awfully hard to be disappointed in Jimi's guitar playing, which I am not. The rest of the instrumentation is very standard blues, but with Hendrix at the forefront, it's hard to criticize much about this.
