Once Loved, Now Forgotten

Albums that were once true obsessions at one point or another in my life, but that I hardly ever spin nowadays. Some of them I actually don't like anymore, but most are just albums that I don't think about anymore.
1As I Lay Dying
Frail Words Collapse

Stopped listening to them after Tim did his thing. Never really picked them back up after that, but I've gotten back to the point where I can appreciate the music.
2The Black Keys
Rubber Factory

The best Black Keys album even after all these years. I have it on vinyl, so I'll spin it a little bit, but I tend to stop after "10 AM Automatic."
3Blindside
Silence

This album was one of my bridges to getting used to screaming in music, and was a full-blown obsession at one point. I generally don't listen to this type of music anymore, but if I do, this would still probably be among my favorites.
4Boysetsfire
Tomorrow Come Today

One of the first three albums I ever bought with my own money. They deserved so much more respect when they were around.
5Collide
Chasing the Ghost

I actually really like this album...I just forget it exists sometimes.
6Days Away
Mapping An Invisible World

Another obsession for me. Got the album for free, honestly still love it.
7Demon Hunter
The Triptych

Demon Hunter was, at one point, my absolute favorite band. As I was exploring metal through Christian Hard Rock, they were the cornerstone for which I based everything else I heard on. Can't remember the last time I spun a Demon Hunter song, but man...they were everything back then.
8Dream Theater
Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory

This is probably their best album, I just overplayed it when I first discovered the band. 'Octavarium' is the only album by DT that I actually play anymore.
9dredg
El Cielo

'El Cielo' and 'Catch Without Arms' are bomb album, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
10Emery
The Question

I think bands like this are just indicative of me not really having much of a taste for post-hardcore and emo in general.
11Explosions in the Sky
The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place

Another album I was obsessed with, that I thought was the most gorgeous thing I'd ever heard. Perhaps that's still true, but I hardly listen anymore.
12Flobots
Fight with Tools

I forget that 'Handlebars' is on this album, because the song I think of first is the title track.
13fun.
Aim and Ignite

Man, I remember this being a legit "Sputnik Album" before 'Some Nights' came out. Just a fun listen back then.
14Gym Class Heroes
The Papercut Chronicles

This album has some rather clever songs. I just know all the punchlines.
15Jonsi
Go

Hahahaha...remember this album?
16Justin Timberlake
The 20/20 Experience

I actually wrote a review of this album. I don't think I've spun it since, lol
17Lostprophets
The Fake Sound Of Progress

Much like As I Lay Dying, I've just barely started coming around to listening to this album again. This album was so fun and catchy back then, like a slightly crunchier Incubus.
18Matchbook Romance
Voices

Matchbook Romance was the last band I ever thought would put out an album like this, and as a case study its fascinating...but as an album, it's kind of tedious to listen to.
19Mew
Frengers

I still absolutely love this album. I just don't listen to it all that much.
20Muse
Origin of Symmetry

I discovered Muse right after 'Black Holes and Revelations' came out, but this was my clear favorite. Man, how incredible is this album, especially now compared to the rest of their discography? And does anyone really still listen to Muse?
21Nightwish
Once

Once I listened to this band...and that was it.
22Red (USA)
End of Silence

Back then, I considered them one of the few rock bands on the radio that sounded like they were doing something different. Really, they were all pretty much the same.
23Rise Against
Siren Song of the Counter Culture

I used to be able to sing every lyric from every song. Nowadays, I have to be reminded that they still tour and put out music.
24Slipknot
Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses

Slipknot's sweet spot. It was only years later I could truly appreciate it, but by then I just didn't care all that much.
25System of a Down
Mezmerize

On my very first list on this site, I called 'Mezmerize' my favorite album of all time. That was almost 12 years ago (FUUUUU). I can't remember the last time I actually listened to it.
