Masochist Does The Hip-hop Thing Again...
In my neck of the woods, it's not a hard thing anymore to get people into rhip-hop. Usually it takes just one or two songs that they recognize (maybe rsomething they heard in a movie or video game) in order to open the genre rup to them. Here are some good general starting points. |
1 | | A Tribe Called Quest The Low End Theory
If they think hip-hop can't be artistic. |
2 | | Common Be
If they're looking for something positive/uplifting. |
3 | | DangerDoom The Mouse and the Mask
If they want a hip-hop album that talks about something they (probably) know and
can relate to ('cause not everyone is from the streets of Compton). |
4 | | Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP
If they're white. No, really. |
5 | | Jay-Z The Blueprint
If they want something with songs they might recognize. |
6 | | Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
If they think there's no good hip-hop on the radio. |
7 | | Lupe Fiasco Food & Liquor
If they want hip-hop that goes against what they think hip-hop is nowadays. |
8 | | Nas Illmatic
Because it's a motherfucking classic. |
9 | | Outkast Stankonia
Because if they can't get into anything on this album, there's probably no hope for
them at all with hip-hop. |
10 | | The Roots How I Got Over
If they think that only the rapper matters in hip-hop, or that it takes no skill to create
hip-hop music. |
