true progmetal experiments to fight the globalists

ignore tool, meshuggah, post-awake DT, btbam, opeth, animals as leaders, post-focus cynic. throw it all out and check out these hidden gems society doesnt want you to hear. check these youtube gems thank god for real music. no indie rock and no mike patton crap here, we respect melody and anthemic choruses and riffs in this house.
1Lord Bane
Age of Elegance

powerful stuff. gets compared to crimson glory and queensryche obviously but its got some dream theater vibes, the drum sound is totally like awake and theres those nice subtle keyboards that rudess/chug era dream theater just cant pull off. great album
2Inertial Mass
Guest for Autopsy

not strictly prog metal but very technical spastic spanish dm demo that will rock your ass off, it riffs hard but you can also appreciate it from the parksungjoon perspective of "has to sound like atheist or voivod to be good music" (jk jk). you can headbang but also appreciate the crazy drumming and bizarre slap bass peppered throughout. a killer way to spend 19 minutes, please dont listen to one long ass porcupine tree song when you can jam this

Kingsbane

as all music fans know who come from the school of rock rather than the school of fantano and /mu/, the best prog metal takes its cues from rush. well this has rush all over it, plus fates, ryche, the subtle dream theater keys. someone needs to show this shit to john petrucci and be like "hey man you used to rock, ditch the nu-metal chugs, tell jordan to stay in the background a bit and make a good album for the first time in like 20 years"
4Ferocity (GER)
Puzzle into Various Spaces

i dont necessarily love this but its an oddity worth looking into, this is the guitarist from necrophagist's old band. very much in the atheist spasm style of writing, main problem is the songs are way too long. one interesting thing about this one is the weirdo clean mike patton style vocs throughout this one. others might not agree but it seems like these dudes were bungle/FNM fans. i know i said no mike patton in the list description but fuck it lol this is worth a shot if you like death metal AND "alternative metal" radio stuff
5Fourth Dimension [Death Metal]
Non Physical Reality

another weirdo technical dm record forgotten from the good ol 90s, has some spacey synths and shit. just a weird one but still rocks
6Payne's Gray
Kadath Decoded

not surprised to see casavir is the only rating, thats kinda how you know something is good and not just a btbam/obscura/faceless/necrophagist fart album. starts off with some very pastoral genesis-sounding shit and then starts to rock hard. love the piano. fuck this rules
7Ancestral (CAN)
Ancestral

not super proggy or tech but its a weird one, worth checkin
8Vauxdvihl
To Dimension Logic

more "what dream theater shouldve been" type stuff but leans more queensryche in the vocs department. actually i feel like this is what the "moody" yet bland promised land should have been
9Nomenmortis
How I Learn to Bleed...for the Things I Wish to Fo

again not straight prog in the traditional sense but its very weird melodic brutal death stuff that fans of dynamics and variety and brutality should also appreciate. otherworldly
10At the Gates
The Red in the Sky Is Ours

another reminder that slaughter of the butthole is a hot topic record, jam this
11Neglected Fields
Mephisto Lettonica

criminally low rating, very weird orchestral technical death metal. veers into cheesiness but real metal fans know that cheese is a virtue in a world of bland seriousness. enjoy a finely baked macaroni and cheese and put down the soy milk. this is nuts
