01.02.10 | Downloaded the file but it won't play on either iTunes or WMP, anything specific I need to do with the .rar file? |
Crysis
01.02.10 | I would say extract it because it's a .rar file. Just google winrar and download that program. |

01.02.10 | Nah, already had ultimatezip along time ago, just forgot the whole extraction part. Listening now and not that bad. Ussually when listening to small bands I brace myself for horrendous vocals but I was pleasantly surprised; I actually really dig the vocals. Guitars are all right, a little too loud on the tracks for my liking. Also, the guitar riffs become WAY to predictable, by the third track I noticed all your guitar riffs are basiclly repeated about 3-4 times and then you introduce a slightly different one and repeat the process, songs are a little too predictable when listening. Also noticed most of the riffs are about the same time signature, you seem to play either at one fast speed or one slow speed, switching it up a bit more and experimenting would be cool. Drumming is all right, the double bass isn't loud enough though at all, needs to be a lot louder. I hear absolutely no bass guitar. How many guitarists do you have? I also agree your last track is by far the best. It's the most unpredictable and has a great beginning before kicking it in high gear. |
Cerbyrus
01.02.10 | Interesting. Not a fan of the vocals.
Glitch is fucking awesome, btw. |

01.02.10 | Best advice I could give is from a Producing stand point, if your goal is to get signed at some point, create the most diverse EP possible. Show a possible Record company everything you have to offer, make an unpredictable album that has songs of different pace and not the stereotypical american song structure. I really only until the last track inly thought you had one guitarist due to really only one dominant guitar part, utilize both more effectively having one playing melody and the other either harmonizing in a different key. Very good 4 song EP though, definitely keep it up. |

01.02.10 | Thanks for the input, I'm the only guitarist and i'm stupid for not recording/writing any rhythm tracks. Our bassist is fucking horrible and were about to kick him out.
On a side note like i said it's just a demo our newer songs are pretty much completely different.
JWT- A Dead Atmosphere is prob our weakest it wasn't thought out enough were redoing it eventually. |
Crysis
01.02.10 | Do you use a drum machine by any chance? |
Fuff24
01.02.10 | this isn't music. It's noise. I recommend you make some music that employs melody and a rhythm other than the drummer going ADD on his two bass drums. |
CoRpSeSlAyEr
01.02.10 | Hell NO! Our drummer's a beast lol he has i believe a 13 piece set, but i'm not sure. |
Crysis
01.02.10 | Yeah not a bad demo man, I enjoyed the vocals. Like JWT said, some harmonized rhythm guitars and bringing the double bass up in the production would do some good. Keep it up, and the more original you are, especially considering you are playing brutal death, the better. |
Crysis
01.02.10 | keep your drummer |

01.02.10 | Also, after listening and comparing your tracks to bands like Cryptopsy and Cannibal Corpse, definitely have your guitars beffects be more low pitch then high pitched. If your death metal, you want you guitar work to compliment your lead singers growls not contrast it. Your current guitar work also, I'd try either extending the length of your riffs to about either twice as long or cut the repitition of them in half, or just in general like I said earlier switch the formula up a bit. Also a complements again on the last track, love the intro. If I was to lay out a track for you, I'd say next song, have the beginning be about 30-60 seconds of REALLY heavy slow riffing, really sludgy, have everything stop for about 3 secs, have the drums do about 5 second quick solo set up to introduce about 30 seconds of the fastest fuckin riff you can play, then set it back to either a normal speed or sludgy again and then work from there. I love songs that go along that route ala Mariannas Trench off of ABR's Constellations. |
CoRpSeSlAyEr
01.02.10 | I didn't use any effects on any song except maybe some reverb. Thanks again for the input, me and my drummer have only been playing for 5 years, so i know we still have a lot to learn. |
JWT155
01.02.10 | And not to discredit your comments Fuff, but this is death metal mixed with grindcore, they do a very good job at implimenting that genre, seems like you have more of a problem with which genre they're pursuing and playing then their actual musicianship with respects to what they're going for. Knowing the direction they want, you have to be objective about their sound regardless of what your opinion of the genre is, for instance I'm not fond of power metal, but if I was to produce a power metal band, I'd have to put myself in those shoes and do not what I think's best but what is best for achieving what is "Good" for that genre. |
Fuff24
01.02.10 | JTW, that's what I would've done If I was producing them. But I'm not, merely doing as the title says and commenting on it. I want to give a non metalhead opinion, and that is the most ardent and honest one I can give. |
