hollllllllllllllyyyyyyy shittttttttttttt. i'd never seen anything by
gasper noe before so i went into this somewhat blindly. just saw
some good reviews and watched the trailer and decided it was
worth checking out and it was a fucking trip. pretty much an amalgamation of everything i love about kubrick, lynch, aronofsky,
etc. unrelenting look at drugs, sex, spirituality, and family.
visually, it might be the best movie i've ever seen and i feel like
seeing it in theatres is absolutely necessary now. emotionally, it
was a roller coaster pairing moments of heart melting beauty with
soul crushing brutality. thematically, it was your typical existential
fare, but i think it handled it well even if it didn't go too deep into
any new ideas.
so yeah what do other people think.
