| Wow
These albums really surprised me. I bought them with some doubt, but now i'm glad to have them. | | 1 | | Between the Buried and Me Alaska
I bought this album thinking that it might just be mindless heaviness, but then i noticed that it had substance. Not only were the songs composed perfectly, the musicianship was amazing as well, and the vocals opened up a whole new door for my metal listenings. | | 2 | | Bloodlined Calligraphy They Want You Silent
It's metalcore with a female vocalist, I predicted an abundance of clean vocals. All i can say is that this chick has an amazing scream and the music is great as well. | | 3 | | Lostprophets Liberation Transmission
I heard a lot of negative things about the album and that it was pretty much pop punk without heaviness. Ok, it really is just pop punk, but great pop punk with some excellent riffs and solos and drumming and stuff. | | 4 | | The Agony Scene The Darkest Red
Ok, well i bought this album when metal was still new to me and it sort of scared me at first. Later on that year i pulled it out of my cd case and gave it another listen. I was glad i did, not only were the vocals excellent, but the drumming was also top notch. Sure, the guitar work was simple, but that's ok because it's shockingly effective. | | 5 | | Brand New Your Favorite Weapon
After being dissapointed by most of Deja Entendu (the only songs i liked were tracks 3 and 6) I decided to delve a little further into their discography because i heard that they used to be more energetic and fast paced. That was all true, but then i heard some quality musicianship and witty lyrics. | |

12.29.06 | Alaska is a great album, though it took me a while to really get into it. |
