A Guide To Modern Jazz In 10 Albums

I've been listening to a lot of jazz lately, so I figured I'd make a quick list of albums released from 2011 and onward that represent the base of contemporary jazz. I tried to cover as many different types of jazz as possible without falling into the pattern of listing 50+ generic albums. All of these are available to stream at places like Spotify and Bandcamp, and I will provide links when I can.

My favorite jazz album of the last five years. Preparation X play a type of experimental, avant-garde jazz that combines elements of techno and ambient noise as well as other subtleties. Scenes is a very relaxing listen with quite a few tricks up its sleeve. Highly recommended.
