05.24.23 | I'm not saying you shouldn't be curious or should never see this in one way or another but
anybody who goes and sees this in theatre should be seriously ashamed. Whatever their excuse is. Not because the movie will be bad, but because inflincting this upon yourself when it's so clearly going to be pathetic shows the lack of will of an eight years old, the absolute incapacity to discipline yourself and just cope with a little frustration.

Not just that... going to a see this at the cinema adds to their revenue, and this endless brand-recognition IP franchise shit relies on it.
Stop giving these Hollywood fools money... let their projects bomb at the box office, because the revenue is all they care about. Nothing about it comes from any desire to produce anything with artistic merit.
Also...

exactly. especially disney shit since they are traipsing around so many classic IPs like dead corpses, dancing like marionettes to drain as much revenue from them as possible. it's actually pretty awful what this piece of shit company has done to so many classic franchises. we are in the worst era ever of the over corporatization of art imo |

I ain't watching the new one, looks evil as fuck. Disney on the souleating bussiness, the fuckers. |
TalonsOfFire
05.24.23 | Yeah no reason to give Disney a cent at this point given how Lucasfilm and Marvel have gone the past few years, along with the endless soulless live-action remakes. My ranking of the series is Raiders 10/10 ToD 8/10 TLC 8/10 KotCS 5/10 which despite all the stupid and baffling parts has some scenes that’re very solid. Still no reason for it or this new one to exist tho imo. TLC was the perfect was to go out. |

07.02.23 | ^ It's now the frickin' default Hollywood movie run-time. 2.5-3 trash-filled hours is the standard time on Earth trade for usually something that could be over in about 70 minutes if they cut out anything superfluous. |

This film has two sets of identical car chases in different locations but both through narrow streets hitting the exact same notes. These sections are also effectively back to back - absolutely no need for both.
Also the whole middle of the movie is ‘good guys get to the next goal but get caught up by the bad guys who kill incidental characters but never the three main amigos, they just capture them, try to talk them to death, and inevitably let them escape instead’
Also I’ve never heard the punch to the face sound effect used as much as in the first hour of this film. |

07.03.23 | "i always wonder why people who don't like movies drop comments like this in movie discussions"
That was Hyperion's comment, but I interpreted it in the context of not necessarily disliking movies on the whole, but the modern trend of EVERY movie demanding this amount of time, with so little to justify it.
It's a real phenomenon, and they most likely think that by default, "long = EPIC!!!"... Landmark Hollywood films like TLotR trilogy set the precedent, I reckon, but they had pacing, script and content. Others just see FX and run-time, and that alone qualifies it as an "event" film in their derpy, money-grabby minds. |
fogza
07.03.23 | true, i suppose i misinterpreted the comment, has a point. i don't have an issue with long blockbusters but at the moment they aren't justifying their runtimes at all |
