BAT 08.01.23	Ps3 > 360. My 360 died in less than two years, I bought a ps3 after that and it still works to this day. Plus after the initial 3 years, ps3 library outgrew 360s. X360 got better PC ports than ps3 but aside from that all it had was halo and gears, every xbox has a glaring lack of Japanese games as well. Xbone got backwards compat and ps4 has more than activision/ea/bethesda/and ubisoft. ^^oh yeah also forgot to mention how many 360 discs i've had crack just by sitting in their case, if youve got your old collection give it a checkup as the actual gamecases are prone to centercracking the discs And as for that Gen in general : wii aged the shittiest. Outdated graphics, minimal online, and 80% of the library being motion controls only make it one of the most annoying systems to game on. I still have mine and all I actually play on it is GameCube stuff. For older gens : saturn had a shitty English catalog, vnovel machine in a time where Americans barely knew the term anime.

BAT 08.01.23	^they likely didn't own both systems @conc i bought the probably the 2nd or 3rd batch of systems around new years 2006? as did half of my class, all of them broke before the end of highschool and the ones that still had one either bought it a second time orrrr; one of them ended up shipping theirs for repair literally 6 times by 2012, eventually giving up and buying a slim. ps3 had similar hardware issues but since it sold much slower in the start, by the time stuff like mgs4/uncharted was out they'd already tweaked it. xbox you were fucked unless you bought an elite model or waited for the slim. afaic the 360 was a waste of 400+ and i've got no desire to get one out of nostalgia cause the xbone plays most of its games anyways. in 2023 it's pretty much worthless unless your trying to play the 35% of shit not bc. don't get me wrong i love the generation of gaming and typically play more 2000s stuff than 2020s, but to act like the ps3 was the weakest of that bunch is just misinformed or deeply rooted in 'console war' posting. they all had issues but i wouldn't put any of them on a worst of list, same goes for ps2/x/gc.

tectactoe 08.01.23	Don't see how X360 could be considered trash in any context unless you're strictly talking about the RRoD, which is a strange metric by which to measure its greatness as a video game console. Not sure I could rank it above SNES (too nostalgic, probably my personal favorite) or PS2 (almost objectively the best) but X360 was likely the console that accrued the most hours of my life. Huge catalog, improved upon a lot of XBox's flaws (design, UI, etc.), one of the first truly great implementations of online multiplayer, quite possibly the best and most ergonomic controller of all time, the XBox Live Arcade was incredible and almost made the system worth it on its own.

I'd wager a bet that I've actually played more hours of SNES as an adult via emulators, minis, and/or virtual console permutations than I did on the original console as a kid. Back then things were different. You went outside and played with your friends. Tossed a frisbee around, rode your bike, played whiffle ball. Even if you didn't want to, your parents usually forced you to. Made video games more of a luxury, a "special event" for a ten-year-old. Something you did for 30 mins before bed if you were lucky. I remember waking up an extra 30-40 minutes early on weekdays, before my parents were up, to get a quick round of SMB 2 in before school.

I toyed with getting addicted to online gambling over lockdown...then got close to fully addicted the year after, so just signed up for the GamStop full online block and haven't gambled since. So yeah, I would have been far too into computer games where you keep spending. Gambling and gaming are so similar to me, but I get most people are able to just have them as something they 'quite like' in their lives. For me it becomes a psychological experiment, I have to understand everything. My knowledge of gambling went from close to nothing to understanding near enough everything in under two years, including all the strategies and profiling the websites use. It's fascinating but really dangerous. The gamification of the whole gambling experience online is some dystopian shit, close to pure evil at its worst.

Through a FAN CREATED ALTERNATE WFC, there is on average 200 PEOPLE ONLINE EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY (for mario kart). The older consoles could also play dvds, but Nintendo blocked the use of it (so you have to mod it for the ability). It also can play gamecube flawlessly On the other hand, the wii u was the worst console of it's time. A wii with updated graphics. wow. Also game library was and still is shit with the exception of zelda.
BAT 08.02.23	my advice : if you want a gamecube buy a wii instead as they're like a third the price currently. people are price gouging gc since the pandemic and the wii sold like 10x units as gc. also a lot of neat homebrew stuff for 'game preservation,' i would say its rep as an emulation consoles a bit of a reach as it mainly accurate for 8 bit gens, some ps1/snes games will run on it but not reliably enough to recommend. also while we're on the 2023 subject : ps3 still youtubes/netflix/psn shop/etc, to my knowledge wii doesn't have official support only homebrew.

If you 'install' the wiishop n64/snes games those work well but the actual homebrew snes/64 emulator ran very ro8gh. It's a game to game basis some work well others are jank, main things id play on it were nes stuff which was spot on. Nooow jailbroken ps3 does n64/ps2 pretty well, but the average 40 dollar android phone does emulation better than any of the 00s systems or even raspberry pis Full disclosure I haven't messed with wii homebrew I'm like 4+ years, I mainly just use it for nintendont

BAT 08.04.23	i liked the 360 slides interface better than the one they've replaced it with since[aka the current xbone/series dashboard]. there is tons of customization options but its kind of cluttered. no idea why the main things that pop up when i turn on my xbone are like thumbnails for my friends profiles. they somehow made twitch functionality worse by integrating it into the 'broadcast' panel, can't control the bitrate anymore so now i'm stuck streaming at like 360p cuz my upload rates not good enough to handle their new preset for 720p, likewise no 60fps option without going to ultra qual. ps3 only takes about 20-30 seconds to get into a game : power > press profile than it puts you on the start game button if you've got a disc in. the main drawback at the time was upon first play it'd have to install onto the harddrive, which is now an industry standard in every generation since. ps3 didn't have party chat that's probably it's biggest 00s issue. 360 was also better at playing music during games.

I can't really see myself moving forward with games much now, my desire to actually play anything new appears to be dwindling dramatically also completely the opposite to Doof (now) in that I can easily put games down whenever I like, honestly struggle to 'get into' them in the first place that said, I'm struggling to think of a genuinely 'bad' games console, having had experiences with loads of different ones over the years. Wii maybe, but that's a family experience and it seems harsh to judge it through the lens of a 'serious gaming console'.

Played so much Advance Wars, Wario Ware, Minish Cap, Metroid Fusion, Pokemon Emerald, Golden Sun, FF Tactics, Link to the Past, Castlevania, and Fire Emblem on that damn thing. GBC and DS were both awesome, you're right, but they weren't enough to overshadow the greatness of the GBA for me. Mostly because of the catalog.

Just recently I was given a 6 month ban on my account with probably 500$ of dlc’s, 300$ in digital games, for telling a guy in destiny 2 “I can smell you” after they teabagged during a trials match and messaged me 3x talking shit and my gameplay. Every attempt at appealing or contacting customer support has resulted in either a site error, or the support tech simply ending the conversation before giving me an answer as to why I was banned.. Sony is a joke and I’ll never purchase another PlayStation product in my life lol

Assuming you mean the first decade: Melee THPS3 SoulCalibur II Dragonball Z: Budokai 1 and 2 (they didn't put the 3rd one on Gamecube) Mario Party 4 (The last good Mario Party game) Basically from the N64 era to recently, everything was just so story-based, adventure-based, and that is absolutely not what I play video games for. This is why, as I mentioned above, recently popular roguelike games are the first genre that has appealed to me for close to two decades.

BAT 08.04.23	fair enough those are all solid. and yeah i have similar sentiments for certain genre games : like 90s jrpgs way better than 00s cause i didn't have to wait for the shitty voice acting/cutscenes to be over with. likewise i feel like general gameplay remained mostly the same from 2005-now with the main enhancements being graphics or online[imo the average aaa action game in 2020s still plays like gears, dmc, or cod2]. ps1s still my all time favorite system

Scheumke 08.05.23	Not trashing lol, just my personal opinion. I think a lot of it has to do with our age tbh. I played the absolute shit out of the Snes, N64, Genesis and GBC, then when the GBA and Gamecube came out I was balls deep into pc gaming with stuff like Diablo 2. As a teen those consoles did a lot less for me then the earlier gen did as a kid. I completely get that a lot of you will have the same nostalgia for the GBA and Gamecube. Don't think they ever put out a downright bad console in the last 25 years tbh.

Get Low 08.06.23	Path of Radiance is still a good game, don't get me wrong. Can't speak on any of the other Fire Emblem games. I can speak on Fire Emblem characters being generally lame as shit in Smash though, except for Brawl Ike.

It’s fun because it’s fire emblem, but seriously every other game in the series has either an interesting story, or characters, or art style or gameplay gimmicks that keep you more invested and entertained
