Ranking Flogging Molly |
1 | | Flogging Molly Within a Mile of Home
This is my favorite Flogging Molly album, it delves deeper into the lead singer's life, bringing out (what I think is) the final bit of personal story left to tell before the forming of the band. The music is so well crafted now that you get intentional burst of that seasoned punk rock blended together effortlessly with the harmonious Irish vocals and instrumentation. When I first heard this album I thought it was a farewell album, and in some ways I was right; the band was saying goodbye to all the angst it had held onto that made their previous albums beat with the blood of punk rock. Honestly, from this album on they would be their best only touring. |
2 | | Flogging Molly Drunken Lullabies
Drunken Lullabies sees what Flogging Molly can do when each member hones in on their craft, it comes together more smoothly and less raw; but the emotional punch each song slugs at you feels as real as real can get. |
3 | | Flogging Molly Swagger
Flogging Molly's first record stings with personal anguish. It's lyrics feel personal, and you feel that emotion through the speakers. The amalgamation of Irish instrumentation and punk rock give soul to the anger and sadness. The whole album is raw and bloody and I love it! |
4 | | Flogging Molly Float
Float sees the band finally get the perfect mix of folk, and punk. It's truly their own sound. The tacks on this record just don't hit has hard as I'm used to from the band that I grew up; needless today it still rocks. |
5 | | Flogging Molly Speed of Darkness
Speed of Darkness is the first album on their own record label and contains some political tracks that give this album the spice it needs to compete on a playlist with their earlier work. |
6 | | Flogging Molly Life Is Good
The most recent studio album from the band. It's still good; and I don't want to say 'tired', but the music no longer has the fiery passion behind it that the band used to have. Here they are telling stories that just don't feel like they are the main character of anymore. |
