10.21.21 | cool | garas
10.21.21 | The exclusion of the Dio era is meh.
But putting Sabotage above Vol. 4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is cool. | wham49
10.21.21 | you lost me at 8, so your saying that 13, NSD are better than Vol 4, complete rubbish.
and the best song on NSD is Junior eyes and air dance | TheSonomaDude
10.21.21 | you are missing out on some killer black sabbath albums with that mindset | biggzhc
10.21.21 | Dio too me, is the worst singer in history. absolutely hate every single thing he's done. would take any pop singer over him in anything. | rabidfish
10.21.21 | ozzy was and forever will be the best fit for Sabbath's sound. | garas
10.21.21 | > "Dio too me, is the worst singer in history." ... "would take any pop singer over him in anything."
Sorry bud, but maybe you're using your ears wrong?
Especially since I'm allergic to power metal singers, but Dio was excellent. | wojodta
10.21.21 | 8 should be in the top 3 at the very least | Uzumaki
10.21.21 | Top 5, sure, but top 3? Nah.
2 is 1 though. | CottonSalad
10.21.21 | 1 is 1, and always down to hype sabotage. | parksungjoon

10.21.21 | even with that mindset, you're still missing out on like 3 awesome sabbath albums | porcupinetheater
10.21.21 | fr justice for Headless Cross | WeepingBanana
10.21.21 | 2, 8, 6, 3, 5, 1 | JKing92
10.21.21 | I approve of your distaste for Dio, biggzhc. Most of my favorite technically accomplished singers have qualities aside from octaves that prove why I enjoy them, whether it's the driving, visceral energy of Soundgarden in addition to Chris Cornell's voice, or the brilliant, Zappa-esque madness of System of a Down that provides a gripping backdrop for Serj Tankian's theatrical voice. Now, I'm not saying that Dio didn't have qualities pertaining to his music that attract his fans outside of his voice, but to me, they're qualities I either can't find or just never get to me. In many respects, I guess you could call Dio the Michael Bolton of metal. | Muzz79
10.21.21 | Yeah I can’t do Dio either tbh. But my ranking would be a completely different order 6,1,2,8,5,3,9,7,4 | biggzhc
10.21.21 | yea JKing92 love chris cornell and serj... I'm not that picky on voices tbh. but Dio, I just hate that guy, I don't like that style of singing, also dislike Iron Maiden partly because of it. 80's power metal... damn that thing, also the first 4 Pantera albums don't exist in my mind. | biggzhc
10.21.21 | TheSonomaDude which 3 Albums em I missing out on? | JKing92
10.21.21 | Interesting you say that about Maiden -- they strike me as a band that can work very well as an influence (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Deftones, good ol' SOAD, etc), but just don't interest me within their own work (I will say that, at the very least, I can stand "Aces High"). However, I will admit that I used to really like them back in my freshman year of high school (not a "must own everything" like, but I still owned the "classic three"), but that enjoyment has been rotting away in the ground for over a decade now, thanks to other bands whose approaches to metal I far prefer, not to mention all the YouTube comments I've read going on about how Maiden is "real metal" and pop and rap aren't "real," and blah blah blah. Frankly, give me the "inauthenticity" of Lady Gaga and Kanye West any day of the week, since "Run to the Hills" and "Number of the Beast" put me to sleep, while "Poker Face" and "Gold Digger" still slap to this day.
So, yeah, I can't say I'm a fan of Maiden either. | MrSirLordGentleman

it's not like that's the music's fault tho | JKing92
10.21.21 | Perhaps not, but I think my lack of interest in the music potentially adds to the annoyance factor of this, though I do hate when people classify what is and isn't "real music" (even Beatles fans, despite the Beatles being my favorite band of all time, having a bad habit of doing this, as do a lot of bands' fans). I'm sure I could name any number of fanbases that do this, but my irritation with Maiden fans specifically doing this probably does come down to being influenced by my own biases in the end. That is something I won't deny, but that alienating sense of smug elitism is hard for me to shake off regardless. | MrSirLordGentleman
10.21.21 | I agree with that but I also think it is a widespread phenomenon. On one hand you've got people saying "modern pop music" is commercial garbage that lacks soul, on the other hand you've got people who enjoy this kind of music saying underground or technical stuff is pretentious and weird party pooper crap that isn't "fun".
Or just like I discussed with Divergent on another list a few days ago, you've got people saying stuff like "I was born in the wrong generation, rock was real music" and people saying stuff like "lol boomer muzik bad. A guitar solo? yikes!" as if the modern stuff they like won't be seen as old people's crap in 30 years as well
My point is, it happens across all of the music spectrum, I don't think much can be done about it, except for trying to avoid falling into the generalizations I mentioned above which, at least how I see it, are caused by narrow minded fanbases of all kind of ages and genres and not really by the art itself | JKing92
10.21.21 | You make very good points, and the fact that it doesn't have as much bearing on the music compared to my lack of interest in them outside of as an influence is probably why I saved it for the end of my comment. I think, up to that part of the comment, I was making fair points about why I've been bored by them for over a decade now, and why I'd rather listen to other music that interests me more, but I do understand that r/lewronggeneration-style comments aren't relevant to how good or bad the music is, since that doesn't do anything to my enjoyment of the Beatles, to go back to them. I think I just wanted to get in a twist of the knife at the expense of nostalgia-fetishizing Maiden fanboys is all. | rockarollacola
10.22.21 | I like how low SBS is, but the exclusion of anything not featuring Ozzy is kinda fucking stupid. | TheSonomaDude
10.22.21 | HEADLESS CROSSSSSSSSSS | facupm
10.22.21 | 4 is way too high, but ranking is original
anyway, not including heaven and hell and mob rules is kinda childish, awesome albums and much better both than NSD and TE | Boognish79
01.13.22 | 3,6,2,1,8,5. After that I don’t care. | TheAntichrist
01.13.22 | dio's ablums are better than no less than half of these | wham49
01.13.22 | would not say that Anti, but they are good, I still think that they should be thought of as 2 different bands, their sound is so different between the 2 and not just the vocals | Typhoon24
01.13.22 | Vol 4 #2 | JeremiahBullfrog
01.13.22 | What an absolute disservice to some of the gems released post-Ozzy | Typhoon24
01.13.22 | Those first five albums are too good | wham49
01.13.22 | right on Ty | wojodta
01.13.22 | i think sabotage deserves to be part of that group as well | MrSirLordGentleman
01.13.22 | It is the second best Ozzy era album so yeah | FR33L0RD
01.13.22 | 1 is 1
Top 3 LP are massive, indeed.
(Of course, Dio rule also) |
