Nick Cave Album Artwork Ranked

I have not listened to every Nick Cave record though I plan to marathon them all this year and fuck up my Spotify most played list like I did with Devy last year. In fact, the only Nick Cave albums I've heard are Let Love In, Murder Ballads, and some of Skeleton Tree, though I own Boatman's Call. But this list is not about the music found on the albums themselves, this is about the artwork. I'm really bored and it's my last day at this job with nothing to do, so here are my impressions of every Nick Cave record including his side-projects and before-Bad Seeds projects, or at least their artwork.
23Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Skeleton Tree

A dark cover for a dark album is suitable and speaks more volumes about the content of the album than any other kind of cover would have, but it's just a black background with green computer text on it so bottom tier.
22Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Nocturama

Heard this album was really bad, so I'll see what I think when I finally get to it. The cover is also bad. It's just Nick looking off into the distance like he sees something. What do you see, Nick? I see white.
21Grinderman
Grinderman

I thought it was an iguana on the cover because I only saw it from afar, but now I see it's a monkey who just got kicked in the balls. Why do you gotta kick a monkey's balls, Nick?
20Grinderman
Grinderman 2

Now he's letting wolves into his home. Don't go in, wolf! Nick might kick you in the balls!
19Grinderman
Grinderman 2 RMX

The wolf had the sense to leave. Unless the photo was taken before the wolf arrived... Fuck.
18Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Your Funeral... My Trial

The picture is blurry and Nick's depressed face takes up the whole frame. But I guess he looks sad enough for it to be someone's funeral. Or his trial. Or maybe both at the same time.

Never mind, 10/10 album cover.
17Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Tender Prey

Big letters and a tiny picture of Nick looking kind of like a greaser. Ew.
16Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
The Boatman's Call

The boatman is not Nick's friend.
15Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Dig, Lazarus, Dig!

Big letters and bright lights stand out, but do not an interesting album cover they make.
14Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
No More Shall We Part

I'm very sure if I listened to this album I would adore it like everybody else does, but I HAVEN'T so the lazy blurry artwork that's a close-up of flowers will sit right here.
13The Birthday Party
Prayers on Fire

I like the rough design but the font is kind of ugly and the picture is blurry. Actually, this probably belongs lower than Your Funeral. Fuck it, it stays.
12Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
From Her To Eternity

If you woke up to this album cover in your face, I'm sure you'd scream too.
11The Birthday Party
The Birthday Party

Pretty cool black and white shot of the band, but it's been done by everyone.
10Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
The Firstborn Is Dead

I think Nick was the one who killed your baby.
9The Boys Next Door
Door, Door

Nick officially loses all credibility by failing to appear on every album cover with a person on it.

Also, I forgot to put Hee Haw on here, but Sputnik doesn't even have the album artwork because that's how low it would've ranked.
8Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Let Love In

Nick doesn't need Jesus, he's his own Christ and this album cover proves it!!!
7Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Kicking Against The Pricks

A shot of Nick searching for pricks to kick. Naisu.
6Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Henry's Dream

This would have been number one if Nick had left his phone number up on the billboard for the final cover art. Honestly, a failure at advertising.
5Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
The Good Son

Nick actually does what the album cover suggests and shows himself being a good little boy. I guess he was too ashamed to show Lazarus digging due to concerns that he wouldn't fit on the cover, but this cover art proves you could have done it, Nick! All those kids and you're still the star.
4Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Push The Sky Away

Nick shows his naked wife the new drapes. But not 'those' drapes.
3The Birthday Party
Junk Yard

Honestly, this should have been the Grinderman cover. It makes sense purely from an image standpoint.
2Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Ghosteen

Very pretty and very peaceful. It just barely misses the number one spot because there are no ghosts.
1Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Murder Ballads

Me actually having listened to the album plays a bit of bias this time, so I'm sorry.
It's a mysterious cover that makes its album name all the more enthralling. Plus, the artwork was definitely painted by hand, unlike #2.
