Slex 03.17.20	Assassin's Creed 2 is one of the best games of that console generation and while it's well-respected, it's still too slept on Also hate that my fave MGS (4) always seems to be one of the least favorite of most You should definitely play Galaxy 2 ASAP, it's the best Mario game imo, it's bigger, prettier, longer and more complex than Galaxy 1 and it has Yoshi (and he has his own power-ups that are fucking awesome) I'm currently playing the new Ori, Will of the Wisps, and it is an instant classic. It might be the best platformer I've ever played, only competition would be Donkey Kong Country 2 and Celeste

I'm gonna write everything again except shorter. @Slex I adore the whole MGS series, but 5 only beats 4 because you have to commit more time to 4's story in order to get the full experience. But 4 beats 5 any day in the story department and still has great gameplay. 5 is a game I can just throw on any second and know I'm gonna have a good time. Also, YES! You understand the excitement for a Second Sight remaster! The original was so good. @R4zor 2 sometimes beats 3 for me. It depends on my mood. @Pots Tempted to agree about Three Houses being the best outside of BOTW. Ultimate is crazy overrated for sure.

I have the remaster on Switch and the original on PC (if I can get the damn thing to run properly with Windows 10), so I will beat it someday. I also have Sekiro (which I've started playing and love) and Dark Souls 3 (which I haven't touched).

Dewinged 03.17.20	wel l well, the first one on pc with dsfix is pretty good (the switch version is torture, cause controls etc). DS3 is AMAZING. DS2 is one of my favorite but it gets a lot of bad rep. Sekiro was my GOTY last year. Now I am just praying for Bluepoint making a remaster of Demon's Souls so i can die in peace. (Well, and Elder Ring, that is just gonna be out of this world).
Gallantin 03.17.20	Astral Chain rules, love that game. Need to go back and do all the side stuff I missed. As for best Switch game, I'd say its a toss up between BOTW, Odyssey, Astral Chain, and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

I played one when I picked it up from a pawn america in 09, then ME2 I beat in a couple days because I was straight up addicted Bloodborne is a masterpiece almost on the same level as Dark Souls

Gallantin 03.17.20	I make 35k a year, live in a shared house with my partner and brother to help save money on rent and bills. So I'm able to semi-comfortable spend hobby money one one hobby at a time. The problem comes in when I want to spend money on books and music but realise that I can't afford three hobbies at once.
Gallantin 03.17.20	A lot of games I also buy preowned for cheap. Like I was able to build a PS3 collection of 30 games for $5 a game. And I buy all my MGS stuff off Ebay for cheap as well. That's why I haven't played Dark Souls on PS3, bc I got my PS3 copies long after they were full price.

Despite owning Arkhams 1 and 2 on both PS3 and PC, I'm tempted to get the remaster for PS4 just to have that option too. I even bought Arkham Knight for PC. LOL

Gallantin 03.17.20	It would take a while to list them all but if I have time later I might write em all out. They're mostly just different regional copies. I have a big box PC edition of MGS1 which is my favourite in the collection. I also have a sealed Japanese copy of MGS1 as well. My next favourite is the 20th anniversary boxset of MGS in a big silver box. I have a sealed limited edition copy of Portable Ops and Portable Ops Plus. Uhhh fuck actually theres heaps of little cool ones I'm forgetting. But I'm also missing a few integral bits to the collection that are either just too hard to find or too hard to find a reasonably priced copy of. My white whale at the moment is a MGS2 trailer VHS.

I still have yet to really play an AC game since the first one, but that game ruled and all I truly want is a new Tony Hawk game that doesn't suck assss, I don't see how that is a problem

You have a cool name too! @Minus The first one was great, but the second one shits all over it with better controls, AI, and a more interesting protagonist. As for the Hawk games, well, Tony took the rights to them from Activision, but released a shitty mobile game with the Tony Hawk name. Hopefully we see a resurgence of the Pro Skater games and every release up until Project 8.

Really want to play the second one since it was only released in Japan and Europe. Next time Enter the Gungeon goes on sale, I'm gonna pick it up on either Switch or PC. On the topic of indie games, have any of you guys played Crypt of the Necrodancer yet?

TabulaRasa6 03.17.20	Yeah, FF13 is pretty unanimously hated though it has its fans. I got Zodiac Age for my friend and he seems to be enjoying it a lot. Some of my other friends also say its good. The FFX/X-2 remaster is fantastic, though.

Saros 03.19.20	RPGs/JRPGs can be good for this kind of scenario. And Persona 5 Royal does come out relatively soon too. Until then, I might play something like Astral Chain. I've been meaning to for a while, but the games just keep coming.

Gallantin 03.19.20	People are saying P5R is a universal improvement over the original in every imaginable way. I think if you like Persona 5, you'll want to get Royal. I played FF7 last week, only took me a few days. With the game having a 3x speed feature on most consoles now it's actually quite a quick game. My first playthrough was about 25 hours when I imagine it'd be closer to 40 if I didn't have the fast forward button.

Starts out very very easy but eventually starts introducing some interesting little scenarios. You can only move within the Knight's traditional parametres of course. For a dollar its nice if you just want to play a few puzzles here and there without stressing too much. For a truly brilliant and innovative puzzle game, I recommend Baba Is You. That game will really make you work for the answers.

AngryLittleAlchemist 03.19.20	I finished my first Final Fantasy game last year, 9. Just finished Final Fantasy 7 a few days ago. Playing 8 right now. To be honest, it's a bit weird, but also cool, to see the parallels in all three games. They all have their shortcomings (7 might actually end up being my least favorite, just because the psychological elements of Cloud and Sephiroth did not really work for me), but they're all good. Stories in these games are in that weird middle ground where they're weird and charismatic enough to be more interesting then most games, but the writing still gets in the way fairly often. So far I think the Junction system is my favorite and really, that's what I've like the most about these games, is how neat their leveling and perk systems are. Materia probably 2nd. Can't really remember what 9 did better than 7 in regards to limits/leveling/perks other than ultimate forms being cool and the grinding being less passive.

Argh, I hate it when this happens. Shelling out for (essentially) the same game twice leaves a sour taste, you want those 'improvements' but it never seems worth the outlay. Just a general point, I have no idea what these improvements entail. Fair enough when it's a full remake for a an separate console/system or something, that's different.

If I had to choose a single video game that was the most formative of my childhood, though, I'd probably say DOOM. (Times were different back in the early '90s lol.) I remember my dad buying DOOM for me at our local Blockbuster video. It was in one of those wire-metal bins near the checkout lines (i.e. the "bargain bin"). IIRC, the game was spread over four, gray-colored floppy discs. Went home and loaded it onto our family (internet-less) computer. Played the SHIT out of that game. Learned where all of the secrets were on my own (again - this was before we could easily look that shit up "online"), all of the items, etc. Sunk so much time into that game that I still have the first few levels memorized in my head to this very day. Loved DOOM II also, and needless to say DOOM 3 was a big letdown. I did end up getting the revamped DOOM that came out a couple years ago (XBox) and it was surprisingly great. Have been thinking about getting DOOM Eternal, though I haven't played any games in a long time. Sadly don't have much time for it anymore, but who knows.

I recently discovered however that i'm just not that much into FPSs after playing one of the newer Wolfensteins. Video game remakes have been absolutely amazing recently, and it's the one media where I think it has produced the most excellent results. There's so much potential there, but I think RE2 Remake really sealed the deal for me.

Gallantin 03.21.20	Second player can do all the usual activities, i.e. shakin trees, choppin trees, fishin, etc. but any items they pick up to a chest in the Resident Advisor's Tent. They can't access their inventory or sell things or buy things. But again it's so easy and quick to change the party leader that it's not really an issue at all. The party leader just needs to shake their controller, then the second player presses a button, I think X or Y, and bam they're instantly the leader and can do whatever. If you just wanna run around with someone fishing and collecting goodies and such, it works well and you basically can play with two people the way you'd play with just one person.

TabulaRasa6 03.25.20	The story was serviceable but deeply flawed, the backtracking was godawful, and Steve is without a doubt a contender for worst RE character. But Veronica does have some great moments here and there.

TabulaRasa6 03.25.20	If you're quarantined, you should try to beat it before the R3make comes out. It doesn't take too long to beat between both scenarios so you could probably finish it in less than a day. I'd rather they make an RE8 before trying to remake Code Veronica, but I'm pretty interested to see how they would remake Veronica if they did try to.

Gallantin 03.25.20	My first playthru of RE2R took me 8 hours on hardcore difficulty. It's a very short game, and following playthroughs took me half that because I was familiar with it.

And the originals are still so good and different enough that we just have more masterpieces to play rather than having replacements.

Storm In A Teacup 03.25.20	Well tabula, you are a dragon knight and fight as a human or can transform into a dragon and fight that way...plus fly across big lands... the game is a a massive amount of interesting characters, a massive story, innovative combat, a shit ton of rpg elements for your character builds...and the combat style lets your jump all over the place with tons of moves to pull off on a ton of varied enemies trying to kill you across big and interesting maps.
Storm In A Teacup 03.25.20	It's also a game that packs a ton of sidequests with 150 to 300 bizzare characters that aren't even relevant to the story of the game and their quests are really fun and unique.

Shuyin 03.25.20	the original RE trilogy is all about that sweet, sweet horror atmosphere. I played the RE1 remake a few months ago and it was absolutely fantastic, but it does make the original completely obsolete. And just so you know, I love the original RE, of all the 3 from the OG trilogy it's the best "horror game", the dark mood, music and even atrocious voice acting, it has that nightmarish feeling with everyone acting so weird and distant, love it
TabulaRasa6 03.25.20	Actually, if I could sum up both currently released remakes, the REmake essentially replaces the original in every way outside of curiosity to go back and see the campy live-action cutscenes and hilariously horrible voice acting. However, I find the RE2 remake to almost be retelling of the original to fit the series continuity better. I think you could play either one and have an incredible experience, but they're both two somewhat different yet somewhat similar experiences.
