| desert island discs
This list follows a similar formula to bbc four's desert island discs where the guest chooses four songs they would take if they were stranded. This list is different in that it is one album for each period of my life so far. | 1 | | David Bowie Hunky Dory
This album was what my parents played in the car since I was a baby, I knew all the lyrics and Bowie was my idol. He also inspired me to go for piano lessons when I was in primary school, I did not enjoy learning classical pieces and music theory, but looking back it really helped me understand how to play the guitar and have a basic enough understanding of theory to write songs and jam with friends. | 2 | | The Streets A Grand Don't Come For Free
This is another album my parents played constantly when I was young, many of their friends were surprised they would let me listen to such inappropriate lyrics, but to be honest my mind was to focused on following the story of how he lost and found that fucking grand. | 3 | | The Doors The Doors
I believe it was my fourteenth or fifteenth birthday that my aunt bought me a really shitty all in one record player with two tinny little speakers and a scratchy needle. This album (along with the very best of Lou reed, and Black Sabbath) was one of the first records someone gave me! I don't remember who but for about a month after I first played it, I played it every night when I went to sleep and on the bus to school in the morning. Their is not a single bad second on this album. | |
