09.23.20 | cool list idea. first one i think of is Kid A. That coming after OK Computer must've been crazy. Or Revolver, coming after Rubber Soul |

09.23.20 | I remember when 1 came out on here. I think regular critics were bit more apprehensive toward it than Sputnik was, people mostly embraced it here, other than a few “bleep bloop” comments (electronic music wasn’t as cool back then) |
Storm In A Teacup
09.23.20 | honestly as a 30 year old i wish i could go through history and be there for the releases of all major albums by the bands, artists, and groups i like. The Monkees and Beach Boys would be great obvs the beatles too. |
Avagantamos
09.23.20 | autechre - confield
although I was like 6 so I probably would have been like wtf |

09.23.20 | Ok for the sake of the prompt assuming it’s current you but you’ve never heard the album and are traveling back in time lol |
zakalwe
09.23.20 | My taste has changed massively over the years. Metal was an absolute no no for me until I was in my late 20s so I missed out on the whole thing really. Bleach would be in there but technically I was still there for the whole Nirvana thing and only missed it by two years so I’ll say.
Sgt Peppers
Electric Ladyland

Darkside of the Moon
Quadrophenia
Autobhan
Nevermind The Bollocks
The Clash

porcupinetheater
09.23.20 | Would've loved to be on the ground floor for Long Drive/Lonesome Crowded West. Pick up some wheels, pop the discs in and just ride out to a camp somewhere |
Storm In A Teacup
09.23.20 | oh so according to the rules i didn't answer correctly uhhhh my new answer is Misery Signals and Glassjaw |
sixdegrees
09.23.20 | can't think of any |
kevbogz
09.23.20 | Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring would've been cool to see live |
alamo

09.23.20 | Oh wait no Storm you're still good. I overcomplicated things lol. You nailed it with your answer, the travel back in history thing is exactly what I was going for. I'm 23, I definitely wasn't around when Pet Sounds came out lol |
Storm In A Teacup
09.23.20 | oh my lol, haha, well it got me thinking a bit more so it was good for me! |
BlazinBlitzer
09.24.20 | A lot of my 5's basically except for maybe Karnivool and Death. I can't even imagine what listening to albums Jeff Buckley's Grace, King Crimson's ITCOTCK, or Tool's Lateralus would've sounded like back on their release days. |
Storm In A Teacup
09.24.20 | yeah i wanna go with that as my final answer as well, anything that is a 5 and i didn't hear it that week or day of release |
TheSupernatural
09.24.20 | Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
It's so rare to see a band go from pop punk to something like that, even if Deja Entendu was more nuanced or sophisticated than the average pop punk album, TDAG borrowed from post-hardcore and emo and put out this crazy masterpiece that people still aren't over today.
It definitely looks different now, knowing what we know about Jesse Lacey, but hearing this when it first came out must have really been something. |
ReturnToRock
09.24.20 | Anything rock-related from the 1960s to the 1980s. I'd like to have experienced what it felt like to never have had certain genres around and then hear them for the first time (e.g. hard rock, heavy metal, punk, new wave.)
I want to also say Nevermind by Nirvana, but I would have been 6 at the time and probably not 'gotten' it. Ditto Dookie (I would have been 8-9.) |
