The Doors Ranked
1The Doors
L.A. Woman

Words cannot express how much I love this album. Only people who have been fucked by life like Jim will truly get it.
2The Doors
Strange Days

Better than the self-titled? You bet. Has a little more character because of the intentionally spooky quality running through most tracks. Everything other than "Unhappy Girl" is quintessential Doors. The bass playing is amazing too.
3The Doors
The Doors

The birth of the greatest American rock band. Most songs became classics, one became a gigantic radio hit, but I think the standouts are Break On Through, The Crystal Ship, Alabama Song, and The End
4The Doors
The Soft Parade

Underrated. Shows The Doors' versatility and also the fact that they could hang with rival acts like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Beach Boys who were employing string arrangements and horns in their songs. Also the most fun Doors record, despite the allegedly tense recording sessions. Really the only problem I have with the record is that Ray Manzarek gets drowned out on certain tracks.
5The Doors
Waiting for the Sun

The last album of The Doors' halcyon years before trouble started to brew. But also got rushed out by Paul Rothschild, trying to capitalize off the success of the self-titled and Strange Days. Amidst gems like Hello I Love You, Not To Touch The Earth, The Unknown Soldier, Spanish Caravan, and Five To One are some of the most mediocre songs The Doors ever recorded with Jim, like Wintertime Love, and We Could Be So Good Together.
6The Doors
Morrison Hotel

The last four songs don't do much for me. I'm pretty sure they were leftovers from previous albums, and Indian Summer sounds a lot like The End. But Roadhouse Blues, Waiting For The Sun, You Make Real, Peace Frog, Ship Of Fools, and Land Ho! kick ass. The Doors never made a truly bad album with Jim.
7The Doors
Other Voices

I think the way The Doors carried on without Jim was tasteful, in that they only made two albums, and didn't try to "Paul Rodgers" the guy with a subpar replacement. They just focused on the talents of the existing members. Everyone knows the best song is Tightrope Ride with Ray singing.
8The Doors
An American Prayer

If this is to be considered a canon Doors album, here's where I would put it. It doesn't have a lot of repeat listen value, but when you do listen to it, it's a fascinating insight into Jim's mind.
9The Doors
Full Circle

And here's where the surviving Doors ran out of anything meaningful to say. Nary anything good to be found on here besides Good Rockin' and The Mosquito, which was actually a minor hit. But Robbie's singing is out-of-tune.
