Aurinko Ja Kuu
Moonsorrow sure likes their Vs for some reason. Great track from their second LP which Isn't really my favorite but I can still jam it from time to time with a grin on my face. Fun drumming here. |

Tier A
Huuto
I really like Varjoina, I feel like people underrate it a bit. If I'm going to recommend a song from the band to someone I'd probably start with Huuto. Very catchy and immediate while still having replayability value because of solid songwriting. |

Tier S
V part I
It’s still incredible to me how the band managed to create a 30 min song that really feels like one big entity.
Unlike say, a song like Supper’s Ready, where each segment is easily identified, Vpt1 tends to gradually move to the next idea, and does so very slowly. There is an immense care and polish here not to make any transition jarring. Some of the ideas and melodies here are so gorgeous I’ve been moved to tears a few times. |

Tier S
Jotunheim
A monster track. Probably their most acclaimed epic, and with good reason.
After the uber cheese-fest of Kivenkantaja, Moonsorrow started to show more restraint with the use of synth and flute melodies, and it pays off greatly in their album Verisakeet, and this song is the best representation of that.
Folk/pagan metal can be a lot of fun but the biggest issue with the genre is bands not understanding when too much is too much. After all, subtlety is not something you’d expect from the same genre that contains bands like Korpiklaani, Turisas, Elueviete, etc. A folk melody/idea starts losing its power when every single second of a song if chock full of it.
Jotunheim not only proves that the folk/pagan genre can be sophisticated, challenging and profound, but does so in the best way possible. Pagan metal at its absolute best. |

Tier S
Jumalten Kaupunki
Probably my favourite song by the band. This song is not what I’d consider their best (that goes to either two other S tier tracks) but by far my most played song by them. Cheese overload in the best way possible, thanks to some mind blowingly fun synth melodies. The intro always gives me goosebumps. Just pure fun. |
