I like this, but I can't see how something this relaxing could make you euphoric, since I suppose euphoria is kinda the opposite of being relaxed since it's like a HUGE HAPPY RUSH, but whatever this is awesome, so I forgive you. What ever happened to short, punchy punk songs? Oh well. He sounds pretty passionate, but between his accent and how fast he's singing, I don't really know wtf he's singing about. Song kind of breaks down, or at least gets really quiet, at a little past the three-and-half minute mark. It definitely overstays its welcome. 2.8

Needs to figure out if it wants to go for the cutesy angle or raw vibe, ends up halfway towards either which is not a good spot. Vocal production also really annoys me, sounds like an even more polished modern nashville country vocal track. Pretty weak unfortunately. 2.8 5. Imaginary Folklore - I must admit my Nujabes knowledge is pretty lacking and this definitely reminds me I need to fix that. Easily distinguished from the thousands of weak imitators by the wonderful and varied melodies, and vocals are beautifully understated. Sound selection is impeccable. Yeah this rules. 4.6 6. Archie, Marry Me - Another band I have really been sleeping on despite my intentions to get to them, and again this further reminds me of what I'm missing me. Hits somewhere between Belle & Sebastian and Angus & Julia Stone, with the best bits of both. Incredible production as well, clear but textured and impactful. 4.4

And every once in awhile, I post something I think might get killed, and it actually goes over pretty well with most people. (Like this month.) In the end, I just post what I like. And if the group doesn't like it, I just roast them in my blog for their lousy taste. :)

This has the power of an explosive metal band, but thatâ€™s def not their preferred genre tag. More like an alt/indie act with powerful instrumentation, gives me Silverson Pickups vibes. Thereâ€™s a tasteful rhythmic break midway thru the song that I fuks with, and the song wraps up with some ethereal and ghastly synthesizers to spook us out the door. 4.4/5

Really dig the guitar tone and how it's mixed almost like a harpsichord in a way, so sharp and plinky. Vox are nice as well. Hmm, yeah I dig, especially with those drums adding a cool layer even more so with the introduction of the strings at the end. Cool! 3.8 Big A Little A - Hmm, punky! Drums are lovely, energy level is nicely stompy, vox are cool. Like it! Definitely would jump around the room with legs and arms going everywhere after hearing this enough times. It is a bit long though. 3.6 Disengage The Simulator - Love this track, you've been kind enough to rec it to me before budgie and it stayed with me. Best so far this month. Exactly on the right side of approachable and immediate (and, dare I say it, radio-friendly?) yet without losing punch. 4.3 Jonah - Cool retro synths. Vox are Tom Waits meets Mark Lanegan. I get the hype too. It might be just a tad too cheesy for me, but definitely enjoyable! 3.3 Take Your Skin Off And Dance - Hahahaha Myth this is amazing! Love the brass band and honky-tonk/gypsy/vaudeville feel. Those drums in the quiet section around 1:40 are superb, and this manages to remain diverse and interesting enough to keep it from being just novelty/gimmicky stuff. Vox are on the verge of being too much, but it still works! Reminds me of Sarah McCoy in a way, you should check her out, although her approach is much more bare-bones (ha! on-topic!). 3.4

Super dig this beat too. Simple riffs and melody, with some nicely strange vox. This is cool! Fits the theme very nicely too! Yet I understand why it's only just over three minutes, shouldn't have lasted a lot longer. 3.5 Water Curses - This is anxiety inducing by its busy jittery nature. Eek. Afraid it's not for me. 1.5 Damn Daniel - Hmmmm, I don't know. It's not even as annoying as you'd think it would be. I do certainly see its hyping, euphoric potential. Happy it doesn't last longer than three minutes though... 3.0 Operation Lifesaver (aka Mint Test) - Feels like a palette cleanser, don't like the samples used at the end, but that production is phenomenal. It's not bad, but maybe it could be a bit more colorful since it's trying to capture the magic of the British Invasion band. I ike the solo though. 3.2/5 "Warp, Back Spin" Those vocals are so drowned out. The riffs are so much less catchy than the stuff on Fetch and Cell-Scape. This is disappointing, actually. 2.8/5 "Cut" Good bass. Oh, it's an "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" cover. Wait Minus you've shown me this before. Ooh, that percussion is nice too. And her voice rules too and that weird background moaning. Can post-punk parties be a thing? This would get that dancefloor out and about. OOH, THAT BASS GOT EVEN BETTER. Yeah, this song rules. 4.5/5

Trifolium 01.31.21	Hey Sandy - Always like spacey intro's, the rest is nicely happy and upbeat, short and sweet. Guitars are colourful and twinkly. Nothing else much going on here. 3.4 Snow Brigade - That bass sound is superb. For some reason never checked Mew, despite seeing them mentioned often. Energy levels are nicely high, but that guitar/bass/drum combo is what I love most about this. During the verses. 3.5 Head Spirit (Of Our Mechanical Time) - The rhythm stuff is nice, the rest is a bit too murky. I get that this would be a wish-it-went-on-forever kind of song if you'd like it, but for the casually-ok-ish kind of track that it is for me, the length is on the verge of being too much. 3.0 My Friend's A Liquid - Oooh, psychedelic indeed! Am on a psych-binge, so this fits in nicely. Another of those have-heard-about-them-forever/have-never-checked kind of bands. Really dig it! Wish I dug the vox more though. 3.6 What About Me? (We Like It Here) - Seen Snarky a bunch of times, including with the Metropole Orkest, and boy were these evenings funky! Lovely collective, certainly fit well with the theme too Scheumke. Can't help but vibe~!! Always wish they'd tone down the electrical elements a tiny bit (synths and guitars), more of an acoustic lover. 4.0

Still, can't deny Spiderland's greatness. 4.2 Paycheck - Distortion is tasssstttyyy here, vox aren't for me (accent is quite strong) plus don't really like the mix. Too polished/glossy/loud/monotonous. Still, not bad! 2.8 I Am The Resurrection - Another of these classics-that-Trif-hasn't-heard bands. A zak rec, so of course I like it, love the slightly melancholy happiness of this. It's fair and square in this 90s sound (despite being from the 80s!), which is a massive plus in my book. Nicely clean, crisp, loving production, where individual instruments have room to breathe and can be admired on their own. An underappreciated feat in music. 3.8 Warp, Back Spin - Noise has been used to describe this group. So much noise in fact, that bananas would melt. I could see that happen. Don't like this, sorry! 2.0 I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Nice! Love the sound of this, of course the OG track is a classic, but I like the Blondie-ness of this cover. If that makes sense. Very cool track Minus! 4.2

From the outset, the hums create such an intriguing atmosphere, and then that phat bass kicks in and, it's OVER, ur grooving. "I heard it through the bassline" is a clever line. The way she warbles her voice like a banshee is way too cool, take notes Slingshot Dakota. 4.6/5 fin*

Trusty and True: Damien Rice is so likeable and his voice is soft and depressing. I haven't listened to his discography, only some hits, but this was so beautiful and evolved naturally. 4.2. 13. Huddle Formation: dreamy and with an ear-worm melody repeating in the background vocals, but I'd like something more. 3.3. 14. Water Curses: this was a goofball of a song, and I liked it, although I admit it did tire me in its short time. 3.3 15. DAMN DANIEL : yo this is fire and has potential 3.0 16. Operation Lifesaver aka Mint Test: first time listening to Madvillain. Promising start, but went nowhere. 2.5. 17. LTM : Lorde Pots with yet another Miss Keta song. This time not as good as the video 2.0 18. NÃ£o VÃ¡ Se Perder Por AÃ: this has potential - it's humorous enough, and pleasant, but I'd like a strong underlying idea other than going up the scale in a Beatles-like fashion. 3.0 19. Rising the Sun: that's cool, and great sounds, too. Can see it playing in a party in summer and that's usually a good thing. 3.5. 20. Semi Charmed Life: from the cover, I expected sth like Anacrusis or Coroner, but nope, Smash Mouth it is... It's by the numbers 00's rock. Harmless and good for an open-car ride with classmates in the USA. 2.5. 21. 20 Buck Spin: now THIS is some groovy proto-metal shit. Never bothered with Pentagram, but I loved this. 4.5. 22. Hey Sandy: at first it was good, the vocals then kicked in and they felt a bit raw. Not bad, nothing stunning, though. I can see the warm feeling after years of listening to it, though. Paycheck: I actually liked the low tones on this one, buzzing all the way. One of the songs I'm keeping from this list. 4.5 29. I Am the Resurrection: this was cool and long, and I agree there are some groovy parts that can make you dance anywhere. 3.7. 30. Warp, backspin: I don't get the low ratings. This felt like a pill of energy. Unorthodox, but still cool. 3.5. 31. I Heard It Through The Grapevine: Yeah, this one is engaging right from the start. I love tha bass tone and the beat, and her voice on top is just awesome. I'm a sucker for steady 4/4 songs with a sense of groove. 5.
