05.08.18 | List is missing numerous of my favorites. I plan on making another, similar, more comprehensive, and interesting list at a later date. Just really felt like posting something rn.
I guess what i'm saying with this list is, taste definitely changes, but some things can easily stick with you throughout the years. For me, pop punk. |

05.08.18 | idk i like pop |
Drifter
05.08.18 | I used to jam a lot of alt metal/post grunge but now I jam a lot of hip hop and indie/emo m/ |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | Drifter, can def relate to an old love for alt metal/post grunge lmao. I LOVED Crossfade back in the day, Puddle of Mudd was a jam for me, loved me some Staind. I feel ya haha |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | asdfp, I def like some pop. As far as mainstream, I like a few of the chainsmokers cuts, I dig 20/20 experience from jt, I unironically like jb's album Purpose. Carly Rae's Emotion is phenomenal. Oh well |
Asdfp277
05.08.18 | catchy rae revolution |
Drifter
05.08.18 | Tbh i still love it all. In fact I've gotten into bands I never checked years ago recently. Limp Bizkit are the shit m/
Also I love Crossfade. That three punch combo of Cold, So Far Away, and Colors on the s/t is ridiculous |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | Drifter hell yeah man that album had some definite bangers! Did you ever listen to Crossfade's 2013 album, We All Bleed? pretty great, honestly. A little darker tonally |
CaimanJesus

From 11 yrs old to now 20 haha |
Beardog
05.08.18 | Has changed for sure! I love how it does... The first music I actually checked out myself was Linkin Park (didn't like most other nu-metal bands), adding punk/grunge/alt-metal -> Dream Theater -> metalcore -> progressive (death)metal, and now I just listen to almost everything. Still not fond of some genres and can't appreciate all the classics here, but I now feel like I listen to every genre as long as I like the music. I'm still a huge progmetal fan though, DT fucked up my childhood |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | "list some actual punk" it says variants of punk right there though
Drifter, I know how that goes. This year, I've binged on modern trap rap, 90s rock, and classic rock. Lol I'll get in the mood for something particular genre wise, spin it for a solid month or longer, and then move on without listening to the previous genre for quite a while
Beardog, yeah I agree with your second to last sentence. I really bump anything as long as it sounds good |
Skoop
05.08.18 | One pretty consistent trend is a steady broadening of music taste and perception. Without a doubt I listen to different things than I did when I joined this site, but the only clear pattern I can point to is judging music in less stringent terms. |
DinosaurJones
05.08.18 | I generally still like everything that I liked when I was younger, but I also listen to a lot of different things as well now. There's nothing where I'm like "ew, I can't believe I used to like that!" |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | Generally speaking, I'm the same way Dinosaur. But there are definitely some things I loved back in the day and only like now. Or downright hate. For example, I liked stuff like Abandon All Ship, Attack Attack, Black veil brides, etc. Now... Not so much lol |
Sharkattack
05.08.18 | I used to think Pinkerton was good. Pretty embarrassed about that now. |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | Tf is wrong with Pinkerton? If you're gonna bash Weezer, at least pick something, well, bad. Lol they got plenty shit albums to choose from |
Sharkattack
05.08.18 | They do, and Pinkerton is one of them |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | To each their own. Do you at least dig the blue album?? |
Sharkattack
05.08.18 | I fucking love the blue album. The only good thing they ever did imo |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | Fair! I definitely prefer the blue album to Pinkerton. Those are the only two I ever come back to |
pjquinones747
05.08.18 | A mostly milquetoast "progression" of surface level music in each of these genres. I'll give you props for 7 and 9 though. |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | To be fair, I knowingly left out a lot of things I dug from each genre clump. I posted this pretty quickly just cos I was in the mood to put somwthing out haha. I plan on revisiting the topic in the future more thoroughly. I appreciate the props though |
SteakByrnes
05.08.18 | I went from liking classic rock in middle school, to hard rock in the beginning of high school, to metalcore, then to deathcore and shit, then post hardcore, and now I just listen to what sounds dope with a focus on progressive metalcore and post hardcore |
SymbolicInTime
05.08.18 | I was heavy into metalcore for quite a while in high school. Deathcore was always hit or miss for me though. One of my favorite deathcore bands is Shadow of the Colossus |
dtsanchez
05.09.18 | I also used to listen to classic rock when i was a kid to late youth. When i was 16 i started listening to techno mainly, then later switched to rap for a few months. In addition to this i also listened to radio pop, Rock and „alternative“ like SOAD etc. Then later i discovered pop punk, post hardcore. That was when i joined this site. Since then i listened to a broad variaty of genres, mainly around the indie, alternative rock, emo spectrum. Out of this, i listen to math rock and shoegaze the most, adding some Reggae, electronic, psychedelic and pop music to the mix.
Also i like the idea of this thread, it is quiet interesting how the musical Taste of people changes! |
SteakByrnes
05.09.18 | Shadow of the Colossus are dope |
DinosaurJones
05.09.18 | It's a sweet game, agreed. |
Drifter
05.09.18 | It's too hard for me honestly. I get confusing |
SymbolicInTime
05.10.18 | Lol the game is awesome too, yeah. I haven't played the ps4 remaster though. I've only played the ps2 version. |
