Chino Moreno
Am OGD(eftones) since 1996, just after Adrenaline came out and when Teething was on The Crow - City of Angels soundtrack. Proud to have witnessed the start of nu-metal, with Korn and Deftones, and its demise; as well as Deftones rising from the ashes and inventing their own unique, progressive, alternative metal style. Also have delved into each of Chino Moreno's side bands over the years. |
14 | | Deftones (Like) Linus
Downloaded this off Napster back in 1996. A lot of the early Adrenaline tracks were on here, but also a lot of fluff. Not the best starting album. |
13 | | Crosses Crosses
This and 12 are pretty interchangeable. Somehow both just miss the mark. It's like a critical dynamic is missing. Perhaps some infusion of "heavy" as a texture and they would have been excellent. But as is - too weak and uninteresting. |
12 | | Team Sleep Team Sleep
I wish I liked this more than I do. Actually, the unreleased demos are better. Not sure why they never released those... |
11 | | Deftones Saturday Night Wrist
I know i will get some slack for this placing. But this album has very little flow to me. The songs are OK to good, but not great. |
10 | | Deftones Adrenaline
What an album this was in 1995/1996. Unfortunately it now is a timepiece, 100% different than where the Deftones would go in later years. I loved it back in the day - but now, its just dated. |
9 | | Deftones B-Sides and Rarities
This would be higher, if it didn't have the acoustic renderings of White Pony tracks - and instead pulled in the early b-sides Teething and Can't Even Breathe, and the cover To Have and To Hold. As several of these songs on the Covers LP, this kinda covers it too. |
8 | | Palms Palms
What a mix of post rock/metal and Chino's vocal stylings. Not a huge fan when I first bought it, but this is a steady and strong grower. |
7 | | Deftones Ohms
I'm digging this album, but unlike my favorite Deftones albums - there are some strong and weak tracks on this album. The strong tracks (Urantia, The Spell of Mathematics, Ohms) are incredible though. |
6 | | Deftones Gore
I honestly cannot see what people dislike about this album. I think it is superb. So superb that I don't even realize Jerry Cantrell's guest spot as the album flows so well. I think the reason it is disliked has nothing to do with the album itself, but because Stephen Carpenter bombed/tanked it before it even came out. |
5 | | Deftones Deftones
This album was a bit of a letdown back when it was released. Hard to follow-up White Pony, I guess. Listening to this now, it is quite a tour de force and one of my favorites. |
4 | | Deftones Diamond Eyes
A great album. Honestly, I missed this when it came out and bought it after hearing Koi No Yokan. A revitalized Deftones with Sergio Vega. Would like to have heard Eros and Chi Cheng's final work though... |
3 | | Deftones Koi No Yokan
Stepped out of Deftones for a few years between 2003/2004 to 2012. Lost interest for a while - but a friend provided me a rip of this album and it brought me back into the fold. |
2 | | Deftones White Pony
Have the black-covered version of this, without Back to School (Mini Maggot). So much better without that track. And by god, it has Maynard J. Keenan singing on it! |
1 | | Deftones Around the Fur
Will always be my all time favorite Deftones album. Jammed it all the time, sitting in my sophomore dorm room in College. The guitar tones on this album rule. And can't beat a guest spot by Max Cavalera |
