A Great Take in 4 Different Cities
Was on a work roadtrip lately. Broke up the monotony of driving with stops at my favorite Used Media stores in Anniston and Hoover, AL, and in Nashville and Chattanooga, TN. Was also in Memphis, but couldn't find any stores to visit there. |
1 | | Prong Songs from the Black Hole
First stopped at the 2nd and Charles in Anniston, AL. Never had too much luck at this store (from a used CD perspective). Found Soen - Tellurian for around $2 - too bad I have had it for years now. Considered purchasing an After Forever EP - Exordium, but ultimately opted out due to the price. Left only with some Prong, a long-time fav of mine going back to Prove You Wrong in 1992. |
2 | | Tweak Bird Reservations
Next visited the 2nd and Charles in Hoover, AL - just outside of Birmingham. Really dug through the bins here, as 2nd and Charles is quite disorganized when it comes to used CDs. Found a few options, but ultimately only left with one CD by Tweak Bird, which I have been looking for for a while now. |
3 | | Wolfmother Please Experience Wolfmother Live
Had been looking for this DVD for a while - finally found it at 2nd and Charles in Hoover, AL. |
4 | | Primus Tales from the Punchbowl
Hit the mother lode in Nashville at McKays. This truly is the Used Media store to rule all other stores - nothing compares that I have ever visited. Found this Primus CD in the bargain bin at less than $1. |
5 | | King's X Dogman
Picked up at McKays in Nashville - had missed out on this band back in the day and am making up for lost time. |
6 | | Opeth In Cauda Venenum
Was excited to find this at McKays - Nashville. Not everyone's favorite, I know - but I dig it. Combines the clean vocals and soft dynamics of Heritage with the heavy from Wattershed. Paid a bit much for this ($16), but to me its worth it. |
7 | | Eyes Set to Kill Masks
I have always been a fan of this band. Picked up at McKays in Nashville for around $2. |
8 | | Galactic Cowboys Galactic Cowboys
Another band I missed out on back in the day. Found this for around $2 at McKays in Nashville. |
9 | | Goatsnake Black Age Blues
A mix of Blues and doom, with great vocals by Pete Stahl. Picked up at McKays in Nashville. |
10 | | Skrillex Bangarang
An impulse buy - but I dig Skrillex. |
11 | | Pain of Salvation Scarsick
Another album that everyone hates. But honestly, based upon reading reviews, I think it is "up my alley". Looking forward to hearing it. Picked up at McKays in Nashville. |
12 | | Brant Bjork Brant Bjork & The Operators
I have never, ever come across a used Brant Bjork album at any Used Media store in at least 5 years of looking. They always sit on my list, never satisfied. Amazingly, found this CD and the next two at McKays in Nashville! Super stoked, as these are impossible to find and each were below $10. |
13 | | Brant Bjork Tres Dias
This CD was around $2 - a steal. |
14 | | Brant Bjork Saved By Magic |
15 | | Mondo Generator Shooters' Bible
Similarly, can never find much Mondo Generator. McKays in Nashville had almost every CD that Nick Oliveri had ever made - what a find. I already had most, but picked up this and the next one. Each were less than $5. |
16 | | Mondo Generator Fuck It |
17 | | Quicksand Interiors
Finally, picked up the newest Quicksand album at McKays in Nashville for around $5. |
18 | | Devin Townsend Terria
Finally made it to McKays in Chattanooga, TN. Had been here recently, so was looking for items recently added to my list. Been getting into some of Devin Townsend's solo work - and found this gem. |
19 | | Shaman's Harvest Smokin' Hearts & Broken Guns
Have a soft spot for some southern metal - even if fairly mainstream. Piked this up for less than $3. |
20 | | Opeth Pale Communion
Have been streaming this CD for a while now, but finally picked it up for around $10. |
21 | | Opeth Damnation
The final CD I purchased from McKays in Chattanooga, TN. Had never heard this one. Picked it up for $12. |
