Fav. Country and Country Rock

This list is a companion to my list the prior day. We all had those genres that we dug for a while, but then fell out of. For me, that included rap and hip hop in my youth, country in my early teens, and punk in my late teens. After jumping from genre to genre, I finally settled in metal (where I have resided for a long time). This list includes my favorite 15 country and country rock bands and albums.
15Little Texas
Big Time

Alright, so I hate this album now. However, back in the 1990's, it was one of the first (if not the first) album to mix Country with mainstream (or more 80's) rock. I will admit that "God Blessed Texas" in several ways.
14Charlie Daniels Band
A Decade of Hits

Need I say more but "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". But I will, as I also empathized with "Long Haired Country Boy"
13Kenny Rogers
The Very Best Of Kenny Rogers

Who didn't love some old-school Kenny Rogers like "Just Dropped In" and "Reuben James". Also, whenever my grandfather would drive my cousin and I around, it was "The Gambler" on tape or Freddy Fender.
12Aaron Lewis
Town Line

Now, I have a hard time believing what Aaron Lewis is singing about. A really hard time, as I was a Staind fain for many years. But he is also on here as I was a Staind fan for many years.
11Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Collection

Low on my list, I know, but still a fan of classics such as "free bird", "Tuesday's gone", "Simple Man", and "Sweet Home Alabama". But equally despised songs such as "Gimme Three Steps" and "Whats Your Name?". Thus they are low on my list.
10Hank Williams Jr
Greatest Hits, Vol. 1

Who doesn't love some Hank Jr! Grew up hearing him on MNF and was a moderate fan.
9Alan Jackson
A Lot About Livin' (And a Little 'Bout Love)

When someone is singing about close to your home, it resonates...
8Eagles
Eagles Greatest Hits Vol. 2

My father was (and is still) a huge Eagles fan. He always favored the first Greatest Hits Vol. 1, whereas I dug the more rock- and Joe Walsh-influenced Eagles.
7Travis Tritt
Greatest Hits: From the Beginning

If there is one thing I hate, it is Country Clubs. As such, I was always down with his song "Country Club". This was a great collection of his early work, which is all I knew.
6George Strait
Pure Country

Can't write his own songs, but sure can sing those written by others. This soundtrack featured my favorite songs of his.
5Hank Williams III
Straight to Hell

I love it that Hank III raises his middle finger to Nashville and all that it is become. It is the metal in him, as well as the metal in me.
4Brooks and Dunn
Hard Workin' Man

I don't know what it was, but I was always a huge fan of this band.
3Johnny Cash
The Essential Johnny Cash

Honestly, I was not a huge fan of Johnny Cash when I was young. My oldest son became a big Johnny Cash and AC/DC fan, and pulled me in with him. His music is timeless.
2Garth Brooks
In Pieces

"Ropin' the Wind" was the first Country album I ever bought for myself, but "In Pieces" was my favorite and had the most different songs.
1Alabama
For The Record-CD #1

I can still recall as a young kid listening to the album "The Closer you Get", while driving with my mother and father down country roads. The band Alabama is embedded deep.
