In which John Coltrane runs roughshod over everybody else because the dude released 8 albums this year, which hardly seems fair. We also see the emergence of Eric Dolphy as a progressive figure in jazz music, and the folk revival is gaining momentum with artists such as Joan Baez and Judy Collins, but it's still anxiously awaiting the arrival on the scene of one Mr. Robert Zimmerman.
