Noteworthy for being the first year to feature a proper 5 from me. Proper be-bop music is stretching itself to its limits at this point, leaving plenty of room for the serious experimentation that, at least by the looks of it, will start to define jazz in the next year or two. 'Tis interesting to see free jazz pioneers like Coltrane and Coleman in more "conventional" settings, though.
No but he is on my 1959 to-listen list so I’ll be checking it soon! (I go off of RYM releae dates for these things which is why the dates I’m using might not match Sputnik’s.)
