Instead of waiting until the year is over, I will just continuously add tasty Black Metal(-ish) releases to this list once I've listened to them and liked them so much that I gave them a rating of at least 3.5 out of 5. Feel free to suggest albums and EPs in the comments. [Update on 15 February 2021: The limit is 100 entries but it somehow let me post 101 albums and EPs. That's it, that's the final list for 2020. Check out my in-progress list for 2021. Cheers!]
the new Nechochwen & Panopticon split LP is solid and might be worth adding to the list (https://bindrunerecordings.bandcamp.com/album/nechochwen-panopticon-split-lp)
@ kleggi The split came out in November 2019 so won't make this list. But thanks for mentioning it. I somehow still haven't listened to it yet, but will now do so asap!
@antalWS That's weird, I just noticed it says November 2019 for some reason at the bottom of the page on Bandcamp, but it's official release date was January 31, 2020. It wasn't even streaming in its entirety on Bandcamp until early last week through nocleansinging.com and just got my pre-order in the mail yesterday.
@kleggi Thanks for following! And it looks like the Nechochwen/Panopticon split is going to end up on this list after all! ;-) There's also a split by Panopticon and Aerial Ruin that came out on the same day.
@botb Thanks for the tip! A band/project that's not even listed in the Metal Archives yet, how exciting! :-) But I found it and will give it a spin: https://music.throatruinerrecords.com/album/animal-bouffe-animal
@AntalWS Yep, I pre-ordered that split as well! I didn't mention that one though because the split with Aerial Ruin isn't metal, it's just acoustic stuff from both bands.
