The thing is, Europe is literally the last bastion of net neutrality now. Most South and Pan-American states don't have it, Russia, China, India and the arabic states certainly don't have it. I don't know about Japan and South Korea but most states in the world don't have a free and open net. It's pretty terrifying that the US just collapsed on this issue. |

Azertherion
12.14.17 | " and then it'd be passed just like here."
No it won't, for several reasons. The EU parliament adopted Net Neutrality unilateraly, and every single country has specific laws to ensure that the network is equally accessible. No country can go against it unless the notion is aborted, which will require several countries standing up against it, which I don't see happening. At all. |
guitarded_chuck
12.14.17 | net neutrality is kind of a libertarian idea though wouldnt you say

12.14.17 | The "libertarian argument" against net neutrality is nothing if not retarded.
@ chuck. Yeah but the big bad government has to ENFORCE neutrality. And that is evil. (Or so goes the libartarian argument I've read) I agree with having as little regulations as possible and I think their are probably alot of somewhat sober libartarian leaning people out there who are for net neutrality. |
Azertherion

i mean, i don't think there's anything intrinsic to the idea of communism that precludes bartering per se, if we're only discussing shared means of production. obviously in history socialist governments like china and the ussr caused famines with their particular attempts at social engineering but again there's a limit to abstracting that to the ideology as a whole past and present. and you still had to buy shit in some form in USSR |

do you know in science when you get the same result of an experiment 100% of the time it's considered to be a fact |
anarchistfish
12.18.17 | come on loaded question. idk if u were a revolutionary marxist leninist gvt you'd probably have to start with the basic stuff such as utilities, food, maintenance, anything essential. first appropriate the businesses, so you don't fuck up those natural flows of goods, eventually standardise and universalise that so everyone is guaranteed decent living. don't rust it. after that and with surplus you can get more creative. we live in such a consumerist society it's not like there's a lack of surplus. obviously it's way more complicated than that and any society as big as ours is gonna have a lot of intricacies and contradictions but that's the same as capitalism which functions to expand and expand without regard for the health of society or the planet as a whole, wasting resources, draining the workforce and dividing along wealth lines until the whole thing blows. You can call that functioning. It does function in a certain way. To what end though?
my personal opinion is that more intrinsic changes would probably have to happen. to a certain extent material conditions have to shift in a way that allows for new avenues to open up more easily. just look at media piracy. that is communist as fuck. it's easy to take capitalism for granted because we are so accustomed to it now but it has evolved and shifted over the last 150 years along with the social fabric and material developments, and it wasn't even 50 years ago that no one knew whether western capitalism or soviet communism would win out. it isn't for granted that capitalism was, hence the many cold war proxy wars
"do you know in science when you get the same result of an experiment 100% of the time it's considered to be a fact"

im not vouching for full blown free market capitalism here, in fact i regularly vote social democrat in canada, but communism doesnt fucking work man and among most anyone well read on history sociology and or economics they are going to think anyone who is pro-communism as completely ignorant |
