No Expletives! A Rec Competition...FINAL SHOWDOWN!

THE FINAL ROUND.....no profanity, curses, swears etc...
1Night Verses
From the Gallery of Sleep

So let's really make this last round happen, shall we? Rec me 3 songs using 3 different artists of different genres (no repeating tags). This time though, just YOUR OWN tracks must have different genre tags. For example it would be okay if Steak used post hardcore, indie, and electronic tags in his three recs as well as clamrose using the same exact tags. However, if Steak rec'd one band with the those three tags, he wouldn't be able to use them for the other two recs. Hopefully that makes sense...ONLY ONE WINNER WILL COME OUT ON TOP, GOOD LUCK!

Solunar
(Post Hardcore, Progressive Rock, Experimental)
Love this vocal intro overlapping a punchy drum beat that bleeds into some melodic guitar playing and then continues a sort of stop start pattern which gives every section a refreshing punch. The interlude, although a bit out of the blue was enjoyable and I loved the clean vocals. Pretty nice just wish it was a bit longer to expand on some of the ideas and sections, it felt a bit rushed. 3.9/5

Stay Classy, San Diego
(Metalcore, Hardcore, Grind)
Opening with some spastic grind with some shredding screams, this track smacks you across the face right from the get go. As the track progresses there's also a nice little interlude with a bright melody, which was definitely unexpected. The return to heaviness at the end was also killer. This did what the last track did a bit better. 4.1/5

Light Words VAO
(Ambient, Electronic, Downtempo)
Completely changing paces here, we get taste of some soothing female vocals with some simplistic yet entrancing electronic textures. This was pretty enjoyable but I kept hoping for some interesting change ups, but the changes tended to be fairly minor. I guess that's ambient/downtempo electronic music though, eh? Still a genre I'm adjust to. 3.4/5

Omniphobia
(Progressive Rock, Post Hardcore, Math Rock)
Love this pitter patter of drums that eases into theses incredible technical riffs that glides beneath soaring high pitched vocals which mimic the pitch of the guitar tones while being balanced by some quick bass riffs which smooth out the high notes. There's a nice energy here and the melodies were fantastic and I loved that interlude where the bass is the forefront. The solos that come in towards the end as the vocals transitioned to some shouted vocals were kickass and it all just worked very well. 4.2/5

Spirits Away
(Metalcore, Progressive Metal)
The riffs that open this track with that piano bit were stellar. I love the way the screams and cleans worked together as the track progressed there was a nice switch between the two and the way the cleans soar over the deeper screams was super successful. The breakups for the more melodic sections where the piano comes into play were fantastic and don't sound out of place at any point. The structure here is just seamless and blends together without ever sounding forced. Really enjoyed this one 4.4/5

Sunday
(Hardcore,Emo)
Some hardcore with a fair bit of melody and although the vocals are pretty typical for the genre, I did find them enjoyable. I was also surprised by the generally upbeat melodies that this track presents. I appreciated the unique tone but I found myself craving a bit more vocally. 3.7/5

I’m a Man
(Pop Rock, rock, Jazz Fusion)
Ooooh starting off with that good ol' funky bass thats gleams throughout the track. Some soulful vocals and some sick guitar work. Pretty nice but instrumentals began to become stale after awhile. 3.5/5

Nica Libres at Dusk
(Indie Folk, Folk, Ambient)
Super chill and I gotta be honest, I'm very tired and this almost lulled me to sleep with its beautiful melodies and calming vocals. I could definitely see enjoying this a lot more when I'm well rested, as the instrumentals are wonderful. 4.2/5

I Might Be Wrong
(Alternative Rock, Electronic, Experimental)
Definitely interesting, the synthy pulse overlapping that rough guitar riff that Thom Yorkes' vocals glide on top of really helps them shine. There's the perfect balance of grit and reserve. 4.5/5

Don't Slip Away
(Dream Pop, Psychedelic)
Some lush and shimmery summer vibes, I can already feel myself drift off to the beach as the air breezes by. The brush of guitar, the caressing vocals, it floats by while stilling supplying some change in space not only physically but mentally with tinges of surprising tangling guitar licks, bass grooves and the pitter patter of drums. A nice getaway 4.2/5

How to Fight Loneliness
(Americana, Indie Rock, Country)
Sending me those vibes of relaxation and kicking back brainmelter, eh? The simplicity of the vocals and strums of guitar that lead into some lovely piano melodies are sure to set your mind at ease. Escape from your stress and worry and let the sun wash away your troubles. 4.4/5

To All The Dancers Of The World, A Round Form Of Fantasy
(Idm, Shoegaze, Electronic)
You certainly took notice of my enjoyment for a smooth listening experience that consistently maintains a tone or feeling. Some glitchy yet oddly peaceful and soothing electronics with, yet again, some melancholy vocals. The glitches and distortions in the track and vocals although appearing random at a glance, it's clear to me there's a great deal of timing and technicality to them. The moments where the track bursts out from its glitchy realm really help to harness the listener into just how beautiful the layering of elements at play are.
This was truly special and brought me far away from any of the negative thoughts or worries I've been feeling. 5/5
