Songs Under 3 Minutes Rec Contest SUDDEN DEATH!

For the final round lets stay as true as possible to the nature of this contest. I want a 3 minute (+ OR - 3 seconds) rec (no exceptions for applause/noise/empty space). Any genre is game for this round. HOWEVER, for a final twist, you can rec up to 3 tracks (you can give me one song, two songs, or three songs).Unlike last time, I will be judging the set of recs individually (not based on how they work as a unit). BUT BE FAIR WARNED I will be averaging how ever many recs you give to create your final score. (ie. if you give two recs I will divide by two, three recs I divide by 3). This may help you or may drastically hurt you...GOOD LUCK!
1The Arrogant Sons of Bitches
Three Cheers For Disappointment

MyCarandMyGuitar
Have Fun Rotting By Yourself- The Arrogant Sons of Bitches
This is definitely a Jeff Rosenstock song through and through. The track starts with a buzzing and grungy feedback that is balanced with some twinkly xylophone, synths and an acoustic guitar riff. The sort of off-kilter drums during all of this sorta remind me of troops come homing from battle after barely surviving a war. All of this is all quite fitting for a song that lyrically talks about everything sort of falling apart in Jeff's life. The build up that begins once the drums truly kick in at full swing and the vocals that just sort of layer do well to pair with how the lyrics sort of turn at the end to Jeff basically saying he's sick of it all and telling his problems to fuck off. I love the whole thought out nature of the instrumentals pairing with what Jeff is trying to say lyrically here but I can't help but wish there was more passioned Jeff screamed/strained vocals like at the end the track. 4.2/5
2The Afghan Whigs
In Spades

UniqueUniverse
The Afghan Whigs - Toy Automatic: Although this has some pretty passionate and enjoyable vocals they seem too low in the mixing which sorta bothers me as the track progresses. I do enjoy the instrumentation that there some interesting stuff going on for sure, but I wasn't blown away by this either. I think the mixing is really the deterent here for me. 3.6/5
Julia Holter - Sea Calls Me Home: At first I was sorta turned off by the sorta aged vocal delivery here but it improves as the track progresses. I enjoyed the layering of the vocals in the background, they create a nice atmosphere over the deep bass lines. When the sax kicks in at the latter half I found that to be a rather pleasant surprise as well as the hints of strings and piano in the mix of it all. My favorite of the three I'd have to say 4.4/5
3Tim Minchin
Ready For This? [DVD]

Tim Minchin- 3 Minute Song: Now this is my kind of humor/anti-societal norms slam song. This is brimming with wittiness, charisma and even catchiness. I love the piano playing its manic at one minute and slows to punctuate the funny parts of the song. I'd imagine when this first came out this had a fair bit of buzz and I wish I had heard it then. 4.3/5
AVERAGE: 4.1/5

4Raised Fist
Sound of the Republic

SCREAM!
Raised Fist - Sunlight: This start off as pretty standard hardcore track but the break ups in throughout make this have a fair bit of punch and give a nice unexpected twist to keep the interest up. I do wish the vocals changed more thoughhh. Ugh this was tough to rate for that reason but it does knock it down a bit. 4/5
Vök-Lightning Storm: This one had a dreamy atmosphere and I really enjoyed the vocals here. Feels like the perfect type of tune to nod off to (I mean that in the best way). The tinges of guitar and bits of piano are minimalistic but enticing under the droning overall beat. It succeeds at what it aims to be. 4.6/5
AVERAGE: 4.3/5
