Songs Under 3 Minutes Rec Contest Part 3

For this round I want 3 recs again but this time the 3 recs must be 3 songs from one album in the order they fall on the album. Being as this one is a bit tougher I will allow an artist to be used by more than one person but not the same album (obviously). UNDER 3:33 SECOND LONG TRACKS FOR THIS ROUND ONLY *** THIS ROUND THE BOTTOM 6 PEOPLE WILL BE ELIMINATED ***
1Glassjaw
Worship and Tribute

***NO WINNER FROM PREVIOUS ROUND WHICH MEANS NO IMMUNITY***
2A Textbook Tragedy
A Partial Dialogue Between Ghost and Pri

dbizzles
Stay Classy, San Diego/ Cynthia: A Mistress/ A Cadaver
This reminds me so much of Number 12 Looks Like You except without the clean vocals. These three tracks are spastic and exhilarating but also restrained at just the right moments to give you a bit of a break from the madness. The tracks change pace and shift in about every direction possible. 4.4/5
3Deicide
Deicide

BlackwaterPork
Lunatic of gods creation/ Sacrificial suicide/ Oblivious to evil
These vocals are what I dislike about thrash, they do little to nothing for me in these tracks. The drums on these are great and super intense plus the solos were pretty nice.but nothing about these tracks were really memorable to me. They just sound like pretty much anything else in the genre to me. 3.3/5

Take Warning/ The Crowd/ Bombshell
A collection of some old school punk/ska that hits all the right sweet spots, great basslines, passionate punk vocals and loads of energy 4/5

MyCarandMyGuitar
Call Out/ Beach Community/ Derailed
This had some really stand out vocals imo never really heard pop punk vocals quite like these, they stand out just enough to be more memorable than the typical pop punk I usually listen to. These guys are also a bit gritter then a typical pop punk band which I really dig, its like a pop punk band that's trying to avoid the preteen girl fanbase. There's some great catchy lines in the mix as well which makes me crave the rest of this album. 4.3/5
6Siege
Drop Dead

sixdegress
Drop Dead/ Conform/ Life of Hate
Well well this was quite the trip haha. All of these tracks were wild and crazy though the vocals were a bit overdone at times. I loved the opening bassline and just the general riffs in Conform a bunch and they were super memorable. You can't deny the energy of these tracks at all. 4.13/5
7Supergrass
I Should Coco

UniqueUniverse
Caught by the Fuzz/ Mansize Rooster/ Alright
Nice bit of bass in these tracks eh? People are catching on to me being a sucker for some memorable basslines. I had guessed this was actually older than it is cause it has a really old school production (which made this feel like it should be played for many more years to come) but '95? That actually ain't that old. Loved the little piano bits in Mansize Rooster and the bassline in this track is sooo much fun, the spastic riffs in here also give this a lot of energy. This last track rings a bell maybe I heard bits of it in a movie or a tv show I can't put my finger on it but regardless its also extremely memorable. I can't deny that I also really dug the vocals overall, the lead singer has a nice range. 4.4/5

Morningside

neekafat
Take it Slow/ Shoulders/ Friends
The cover of this album is so appropriate as these tracks just go by like a beautiful caressing breeze on cool a summer's day. I love these lackadaisical female-fronted vocals too, they add a very fluid airy feel to aleady lovely instrumentals. This came out this year I believe too if I recall correctly (I thought of checking this) and it sounds like its been around forever (I mean that in the best way possible), like its gunna stick with me for long after I'm done hearing it. The last track has some nice slow and fast moments that help to make the bassline and the riffs shine without ever getting boring. 4.6/5
9Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains
Love Songs For The Apocalypse

SCREAM!
Harmony Parking Lot Song/ Untitled/ DIY Orgasms
Do you have a best buddy who's been through his share of hell in life? He jams his acoustic guitar while screaming and singing at the top his lungs? Well you do now, let me tell you. He may worry you from time to time but you know his openness about his problems is his best coping mechanism and you can't help but relate from time to time. His music needs nothing more than a bit of trumpet, acoustic guitar, and vocals paired with memorable lyrics. 4.7/5
10Bomb the Music Industry!
Scrambles

DinosaurJones
(Shut) Up the Punx!!!/ Can I Pay My Rent in Fun?/ Saddr Weirdr
Have I mentioned that I loved Jeff Rosenstock? Well, now you know. More genius work from Jeff with the level of energy and passion I've come to expect from everything this man puts out. Fucking great stuff here. His lyrics always make me realize I'm not struggling through life's shittiest moments alone, while simultaneously cheering me up all at once. 4.7/5
11Motorhead
Overkill

manosg
No Class/ Damage Case/ Tear Ya Down
Hard to hate classics in metal like Motorhead. The riffs and solos are (as is to be expected) legendary and hard to beat. I mean instrumentally these guys have always been one of tightest groups in general. The only thing about Motorhead that I have never really loved are the vocals, I like that they're unique and tough but it grates on me after awhile because they're no real change in the delivery, though I gotta say that last track is probably the most enjoyable because the grittiness of his voice is at its least grating. 4.11/5

12Death From Above
You're a Woman, I'm a Machine

Laeddis
Cold War / You're a Woman I'm a Machine / Pull Out
Purty damn fun set of tracks here. Love the noisey overall style of these guys and had been meaning to check em out for some time now. The basslines in all of these are infectious and carry the tracks to exceptional heights especially in Cold War I could easily see jamming it on the regular. I just love that everything is sorta hinged by the sheer force of these bass grooves. My only gripe with these guys are the vocals which I could see getting a bit tiresome if I were to jam them exclusively. I feel like this might be one of those bands I'd jam individual tracks from time to time. 4.3/5
13Age Sixteen
Open Up Finders, Please

Trebor.
Peter Pan Complex/ As Personal as a Greeting Card/ Everything is a Tide
Passionate, melodic and gritty these are some fine emo tracks for sure. I really enjoy the balance of reserved guitar melodies with such intense screamed vocals in Peter Pan Complex. The production on these is sorta grating at time though cause I think the vocals are a bit on the muffled side at times. The vocals do tend to be stale at times though as although they are passionate, they stick to the same pitch majority of the time. However, I feel a strong emotional connection to everything thats being done here and that keeps this very enjoyable regardless. 4.18/5
14Erra
Impulse

SteakByrnes
Pattern Interrupt/ Seven/ Architect
I've been digging the metalcore recs from ya bud and this was still really good but I got kinda bored of the sorta expected deep screams of their screamer. The instrumentals are pretty great and the clean vocalist is pretty impressive (except when he tries to go real high in pitch, I found that grating). Overall an enjoyable listen but I'm not sure how much I'd come back to this as I know bands who sound similar to these guys and have cleans vocals that don't grate as much. 3.6/5

15The Armed
Untitled

Prancer
Future Drugs/ Forever Scum/ Nervewrecker
Fuck these tracks are great too. Prancer you got some good taste my dude. There has so much going on instrumentally, these songs are absolutely mental. Plus the I dig the screams and this is an instance where the rather single pitch screams work well as they help to keep you focused on the instrumentals. 4.5/5
16Neutral Milk Hotel
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

Drifter
King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 / King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 2 & 3 / In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Drifter your more peaceful Indie recs couldn't have come at a better time as I REALLY needed a break from all the spastic/heavy/crazy shit lol. These tracks blend so perfectly into one another and that was really the purpose of this round of the competition, finding tracks that blend together and work as a unit. I love the vocals of these guys and after reading the lyrics for King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 2 & 3 on Genius I really appreciate this much more cause I hate overly preachiness and seeing that wasn't the intent is nice (that gunna sound douchey but I can't stand overly preachy stuff). I love the appreciation for life and existence on the title track of this album and the trumpets are a nice little edition to this already lovely sound. 4.5/5
17Nicole Dollanganger
Curdled Milk

CaimanJesus
Barren/ Dog teeth/ Hair lockets
Surprisingly dark and dreary lyrically which makes the acoustic and fragile vocals that much more haunting. Upon reading her lyrics they remind me so much of Fiona Apple (who I also adore). These tracks are so masochistic and depressing but if you're as masochistic as I can be you'll find it hard to escape the daunting beauty hidden in these tracks. This was extremely memorable and really hit me hard. 5/5
18Mutoid Man
War Moans

Dewinged
Melt Your Mind/ Bone Chain/ Micro Agression
Nice change up from the last one and holy shit what a changeup this is. So much to love here, this is just flat out bombastic, was surprised considering the first tag was stoner rock. These clean vocals oddly remind me of Keith Buckley but I really dig that. I will definitely have to check this whole album out especially since its a 2017 release. 4.3/5
19Alkaline Trio
Good Mourning

onionbubs
Emma/ Fatally Yours/ Every Thug Needs a Lady
More Alkaline from the bubs and this reminds me of bad religion (who clearly is a big influence) with a blink-182 eque edge to it and super prominent bass which as you'd guess I really dig. The vocals overlapping work super well on these tracks. 4.12/5
***ELIMINATED*** (sorry bubs budgie came through this round)
20AFI
All Hallow's E.P.

Feather
Halloween/ The Boy Who Destroyed the World/ Totalimmortal
Prominent killer basslines? CHECK! CHECK! Great Vocals? CHECK! An EP revolved around Halloween? A satisfied Zombie? CHECK CHECK and CHECK! 4.8/5
21Orchid
Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow!

AsleepInTheBack
I Am Nietzche/ Victory Is Ours/ Don't Rat Out Your Friends
Then there was another abrasive Asleep set of recs. These guys rippppp and fill the itch for craziness I need when I'm frustrated. A quick set of recs that blow right through both your eardrums while kicking and screaming as they do so. 4.4/5
22Hazel English
Just Give In / Never Going Home

budgie
It's Not Real/ I'm Fine/ That Thing
God these lyrics hit so close to home its not even funny. STRONG STRONG emotional attachment to this especially lyrically, im referring most specifically to I'm Fine. The music itself just breezes by in a light and timid way with some lovely instrumentals that keep interest and these tracks rely heavily on the balance of heavy basslines (tonally speaking) paired with higher pitched vocals that even each other out perfectly. 4.3/5
