1) His speech is mainstream in America up until the Rodney King point, agreed, but that has been mainstream forever. Even a lot of black people I know think riots are just hood niggas trying to get free shit. Hell, even Architects (about the most lefty left lefties that ever lefted) wrote Devil's Island condemning the opportunistic bullshit in the UK riots years back.
2) The Rodney King thing is not mainstream. It's mainstream to argue that police shootings are justified in most cases (as was the case to argue the same back then as well, so again no change over time) but nobody today except the fringe of the fringe argues that police beatings like that are "standard police procedure." |

theres no doubt that white nationalism is more mainstream than it ever was in the last 20 years, not least thanks to donald trump who's maybe unwittingly its current figurehead...and i feel the movie really illustrates that which i find pretty hard hitting. again thats just my take on it, and i can see why people might disagree |
GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
08.24.16 | The internet and social media have made congregating easier for groups like white nationalists and also black power retards, mind you. Lots of fringe groups seem louder and may in fact have more reach now. A good example of this is vegan idiots, who make up like 1-2% of the population but somehow are everywhere when any nutrition study is posted online. They must actively troll the web to find people like them cause they can't find any in real life. Kinda like how on this site Converge is mainstream and in the real world nobody knows who they are. |

Mythodea
08.24.16 | Some people, as in ''the USA government, together with CIA'' (and that's a fact).
The antithesis of authoritarianism is anarchy. People confuse political and financial models, while thinking the one doesn't affect the other (talking about contradiction). A democracy can be libertarian, socialist or anything in between, but a democracy with a libertarian profile is bound to fail, because history has proven that the free market and corporations use their political power in order to achieve what they want. Fascism in Italy was supported (if not created) by corporations. All the juntas in Latin America were made to bring more money to Mother America, via corporations such as Ford, who wanted to extend their audience. |

08.24.16 | I meant it being your second language you would have more difficulty detecting obvious sarcasm. But I learned that Greeks are now a racial group, so yay! Always thought you were a honky like me but now I know there are Caucasians and then there are Greeks, two different things. |
Mythodea
08.24.16 | Well, I've been called 'thick', 'dumb', 'lazy' and other beautiful things before because of my nationality. In EU there are some distorted opinions about Greeks. The fact that I wrote ''for some reason'' indicates I couldn't explain why my country was mentioned. You were not racist, I see that now and understand what you meant. You could have said ''english is not your first language'', anyway, but I'll let it slide too. But try being less sarcastic, when I' still trying to maintain a serious profile. |

08.24.16 | I admit that I'm condescending. It's an area for improvement. Although I'll forever look down on some people, like Chuck (about half a foot down, give or take). |

08.24.16 | "Dude education and medical care are not largely privatized in the U.S. they're both > 50% state controlled."
i mean in comparison to other developed countries obviously lmao
but anyway if you are implying the usa's education and hc systems are state controlled you're only further supporting the argument that innovation is driven by public funding not private corporate motives |
GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
08.24.16 | I'm saying we've had that progress in spite of such shackles. At the end of the day I don't get corporation hate. Having gone through law school I don't see it any differently than looking at partnerships, LLCs, etc. and they're all various ways to structure a business with pros and cons relating to tax treatment, liability limitations, regulatory control, and so on.
I'm just saying that the "rah rah corporations are evil and are anti-human and trying to enslave us all rah rah" crowd never has any metrics by which to substantiate their point. None. You'd think they could provide some tangible shit but no. Nothing. Crickets. Life is awesome now (even in the third world compared to just 20 years ago things are insanely better) and in 50 years life will be more awesome and in 100 years people in Uganda will be bitching about the quality of the marbling in their steak. |

08.24.16 | reality is greed is a basic human trait and therefore a totally free market will never benefit the majority of a population |
GhostOfSarcasticBtrd
08.24.16 | Depends what you mean by totally free. I think everyone at least wants courts to be able to enforce contracts and warranties, prevent fraud, etc. Provided people are held to their word and tort law is logical and enforced, the freer the market the better. |
