| My American Trip Ranked
Just got back to Aus after spending 5 weeks in the States with my gf. Had the best time ever! Tried seeing and doing as much as we could for the time we were there. A very fun visit, so so different to Australia in a lot of ways which surprised me. List was travelling musics. | 1 | | S. Carey Hundred Acres
New Orleans.
Bourbon Street was fun af. Happened to be there the same time as Wrestlemania. Absolute fucking freakshow but entertaining as hell to see all the fans carrying on. Swamp Tour/Ghost Tour were fun. Loved the clusterfuck of French influenced architecture, massive jazz/blues history and pride and not to mention the Southern Hospitality and amazing food. | 2 | | Bee Gees One Night Only
Yosemite National Park.
Surrounded by stunning nature, not too dissimilar to the Grampians/Otways in Victoria. Did a full day hike as far up Half Dome as we could go. The toughest hike I've done but definitely worth it. | 3 | | Rolo Tomassi Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It
Death Valley.
A completely different type of outdoor exploring but just as impressive. So much to see all within reasonable driving distance. Stovepipe Wells is a great place to stay and we got drunk as fuck with the bartenders our last night there. | 4 | | Car Bomb Meta
San Fransisco
Again, the architecture is super impressive compared to the typical mundane Aussie home.
Alcatraz is a great piece of American history and extremely well maintained. Muir Woods was a nice little trek, Twin Peaks is a great lookout, good shopping, Golden Gate etc etc.
Saw the Jazz fucking pummel the All Starless Warriors too, wished I saw KD and Curry but was nice to see Mitchell and Gobert and my boi Ingles in action. | 5 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor Yanqui U.X.O.
Los Angeles
Melrose Avenue is cool, a lot like some parts of Melbourne. Universal and Disney Land are great fun, I don't care how old or tough you are, you're never too cool a good theme park. Watched LA Kings vs Minnesota Wild which was epic considering we've never seen a game of Ice Hockey before. The Comedy Store's Original Room had an incredible lineup. Santa Monica pier and Venice Beach were only okay because it fucking pissed the whole day. Also had some edibles that took some trial and error to figure out a sensible dose. | 6 | | System of a Down Toxicity
Vegas.
Typical 3 days of drinking, watching Penn and Teller, going to a pool party, seeing a Bee Gees cover band, shopping, checking out all the casinos. A completely fucking silly place but fun nonetheless. | 7 | | Dance Gavin Dance Downtown Battle Mountain II
Grand Canyon.
It was busy as fuck, but still, wow. What a view. Sensory overload. | 8 | | Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works Volume II
Lake Tahoe.
Only spent a night there, but stunning views absolutely everywhere you look, went to a Scottish pub that had amazing food. Would be higher if we stayed for longer. | 9 | | Apparat The Devil's Walk
New York.
Not sure if it was the weather, the fact it was the last stop and we were tired, but I don't know how I felt about NY. On one hand we had a great time staying in Williamsburg, walking around Dumbo, Central Park, Downtown, the Irish Pubs, Broadway, Statue Of Liberty, Rockerfella blah blah. On the other hand, it was by faaaar the dirtiest place we visited, a lot of the people are rude as all fuck, the New York Comedy Club sets were completely fucking humorless, homelessness was depressing and unavoidable and why is Time Square famous? I'm glad I saw it but wouldn't go back if I travelled the US again. | 10 | | Yndi Halda Under Summer
Dallas.
I'm a Mavs fan and desperately wanted to see Dirk play a home game before he hangs it up. Well the Mavs decided to crush my dreams and sit him out the last 3 games of the season as well as every other starter. Was the last game of the season vs the Suns and it was the worst combined starting lineups imagineable. The aquarium and arboretum were cool, we went to Fort Worth for a day and that was well worth while. Downtown Dallas was the least exciting of all the cities and we didn't feel like partying so Deep Ellum didn't provide much either. Again glad we went and would recommend Fort Worth to anyone, but we stayed one night too many I reckon. | |

04.20.18 | glad that you got to taste the sweet air of freedom | butcherboy
04.20.18 | sounds like a helluva trip, glad you had so much fun, dude.. the NYC verdict pains me, but makes perfect sense as well.. sounds like a grand time all around, New Orleans is a city of its own kind, should be on everyone's bucket list.. | Dedes
04.20.18 | Nyc is fun and has an endless bucketload of shit to do but it's far from being a "good" city. There's worse, i.e Detroit and sections of Philly, but yeah it can be bad. | Doctuses
04.20.18 | U gotta be gritty to enjoy nyc if not u a pussaaayyyyyyyyy | TheSpaceMan
