i miss concerts

been watching crappy recordings of concerts all day and i miss live music so much. list is some of my favourite recent concerts, in no particular order
1Caspian
Dust and Disquiet

I don't think I'll ever shut up about catching Caspian live in 2018, it was such a magical show. The most wonderful moment was when they ended 'Arcs of Command' with a minute of full-on noise before cutting that directly into the clean opening tones of 'Sad Heart of Mine'. So so gorgeous.
2Brutus (BE)
Nest

I've seen Brutus a few times, but my fondest memory has to be their festival set last year. It was the final day, roughly 30 degrees Celsius outside, at least 40 inside the tent and everyone (including the band) was fucking exhausted but they still gave it their all. As much as I love their records, Stefanie sounds even better live.
3Carly Rae Jepsen
Dedicated

One of the final shows I caught before everything went to shit. Carly's amazing as a performer, I dragged a few friends out to the show who otherwise wouldn't have gone in a million years and we had the most fun time ever.
4Underoath
Define the Great Line

The first time I saw Underoath live was on the Rebirth tour, during a pretty stressful exam period. Letting loose to the entirety of Safety and DTGL was just a whole lot of fun. I miss the gentle touch of sweaty, shirtless, beer stained strangers.
5Typhoon (USA-OR)
Offerings

Honestly, the funniest part about this show was the amount of people who were expecting the well-known Dutch rapper to appear instead of, well, roughly the polar opposite of that. The band repeatedly apologising for that, combined with them realising that they were performing these 'satanist' songs inside an old church was priceless. Also, they sold CDs at pay-what-you-want, pretty dope.
6Slowdive
Slowdive

Speaking of old churches, Slowdive performed at that same venue, albeit in the larger hall. It was absolute gaze perfection; the dimly lit stained glass windows complemented the gorgeous music brilliantly.
7Basement
Beside Myself

Basement performed on the same day as Neck Deep, which was brilliant timing. Having filtered out the, eh, more annoying folks, this show was just a lot of wonderful people singing along to wonderful songs.
8PUP
The Dream Is Over

I'm not sure how many times I've seen these guys now, but every single time has been amazing. I've had my hearing protection somehow knocked out in the pit, I've experienced heart palpitations (lol) at a PUP show, goddammit, I sure do miss being in pain because of live music.
9Foxing
Nearer My God

The first time I caught Foxing, they were in the process of creating 'Nearer My God' and afterwards I spoke with Conor and he told me how much of a hard time they were having writing these songs. Nonetheless, they played three (?) of these songs live, including what would become 'Grand Paradise' and it was absolutely magnificent.
10Hundredth
Rare

The final show I attended before lockdown was a Hundredth show, and I couldn't be happier about that. I traveled out to Belgium with a friend and we found ourselves at a super strange venue in some park, opposite a... palace? Either way, the show was incredible and the endeavour of getting home by bus at five in the morning was totally worth it.
