That's what makes it so interesting. Also, I was just about to listen to Laisser Vivre Les Squeletes. Best European scream record imo. |
elliootsmeuth
10.31.17 | Nice picks, bubs. |

10.31.17 | At first I thought that was seven, but they're just really long album titles lmao |
Drifter
10.31.17 | Thought about putting Cursive's Domestica instead of TDAG cuz its like the best emo album but I thing tdag represents my love for alt rock as well as emo and boys life is already true n blue emo |
DinosaurJones
10.31.17 | Yeahhh, I realized that as I was typing them. Still though, not as bad as the Red Sparowes. They have some of the most indulgent album/song titles I have ever read. |
Demon of the Fall
10.31.17 | I'm going with...
Death - Symbolic
Fear Before the March of Flames - The Always Open Mouth
Bjork - Homogenic
65daysofstatic - The Fall of Math
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
All 5s, not necessarily my 5 absolute favourites but that's a decent cross-section of my music taste, a couple of versatile albums in there. Maybe I should've had The Mantle or Somewhere Along The Highway instead of AATG, I don't know.
|
rapideyemovement
10.31.17 | Talking Heads - Remain in Light
Portishead - Dummy
Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love |
elliootsmeuth
10.31.17 | AATG is kind of a combination of SATH and The Mantle, so I think it was a good pick. |
elliootsmeuth
10.31.17 | "Thought about putting Cursive's Domestica"
Man, I forgot about that one. Could have EASILY made the list, replacing Static Prevails. I think I probably still would've gone with Static Prevails, but if I remembered Domestica, it would've made it a lot hard. |
WatchItExplode
10.31.17 | Coheed & Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
Bad Religion - Against The Grain
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique

The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love
This was tough, but I think these cover my bases.

The National - Alligator
Phoebe Bridgers - Stranger In The Alps
Sturgill Simpson - A Sailor's Guide To Earth
Frank Ocean - Blonde |

10.31.17 | Lots of TDAG, which makes sense. Neeeeearly made my list. |
Drifter
10.31.17 | ellioot when are you gonna 5 domestica |
elliootsmeuth
10.31.17 | There's a couple songs in the early-ish middle-ish part of the album that juuuuuust don't quite hit like the other songs do. But give it a little time, and it'll hit a 5. I was in the same position with Static Prevails not long ago. Long story short, probably another few listens. |
Drifter
10.31.17 | Aw man that's the best part! That albums never gotten old for me. Been a 5 (or would've if I knew about sput) since I first got it in 2014 |

kate bush - hounds of love
leonard cohen - songs of leonard cohen
damaar - triumph through spears of sacrilege
super difficult keeping it to just five, but it mostly covers the main genres i like--hip hop, electronic, 80s pop/art pop, folk/60s shit, and metal. if i could i'd include a jazz album and an indie album like beat happening's you turn me on |
Rik VII
10.31.17 | Yep, I also thought I should include at least one 70's prog rock (Close to the Edge or Foxtrot, probaby) album and a classical opus (I think Mozart's Requiem) - 7 would have been a better number |
elliootsmeuth
11.01.17 | I chose 5 because that's the default number of albums when making a list on sput. It seemed like a number that would be difficult, but not impossible |
G0atC0re
11.01.17 | Nails - Unsilent Death (grind/hardcore)
Four Year Strong - Rise or Die Trying (poop punk)
Saosin - Saosin (post hardcore/emo-ish)

Death Grips - The Money Store (The more abstract side of hip hop)
Lorde - Melodrama (I've had a soft spot for the more adventurous side of 2010s pop as of late, as well as female pop artists)
Animals as Leaders - The Joy of Motion (Love me some prog, especially with wanky drumming)
Metallica - Ride the Lightning (I like metal too, don't listen to it very much anymore tho) |

11.28.18 | this revived, cool
1. Thelonious Monk - Underground: I like quirky weird music, and i like emphasis on percussion.
2. Chico Buarque - Chico Buarque De Hollanda Vol. 3: I love brazilian music, it's sexy, moody, cool, but also jovial and festive.
3. The Congos - Heart of the Congos: Reggae music and also dancehall/dub/ragga/ska make me happy and i feel a deep connection to it, despite i absolutely not giving off the kind of vibe people who listen to this stuff often do.
4. The Stooges - Funhouse: I like aggressive music. noisy, sexy, dirty, druggy stuff, dripping sweat, nicotine-stained hands and heroin-punctured arms, drunk af loser music.
5. Wu-Tang - Enter the 36 chambers: I like hip hop, not the so much fuck wit the jazzy, groovy hip hop, but more into sample-heavy, aggressive kind of hip hop. |
J() Alexander
11.28.18 | Uhhhh... Maybe these:
John Fahey - Fare Forward Voyagers (Soldier's Choice) ('cause guitar)
Collegium Vocale Gent - J.S. Bach: Matthäus-Passion ('cause good)

Berliner Philharmoniker - Boulez Conducts Webern III ('cause atonality)
Philip Glass - Einstein on the Beach ('cause variations) |
Uzumaki
11.28.18 | Khachaturian - Gayaneh Suite, because classical music and instrumental soundtracks were what I grew up with, and will always be my first musical love.
John Coltrane - Blue Train, because in college I took a history of jazz class and I learned there was more to it than Kenny G and Spyro Gyra. Fucking love Coltrane and Miles Davis.
Pink Floyd - The Wall, because prog. Aaaaand I listened to classic rock all the time with my dad. Still do listen to it, and it helps me appreciate today’s crop of garage/roots rock bands.
Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole, one of the best electronica albums I’ve ever listened to, along with The Prodigy’s “Songs For A Jilted Generation”
Dir En Grey - Uroboros - Duh.
Special shoutouts go to Steven Wilson, Kasabian, One OK Rock, Boom Boom Satellites and Mastodon. |
