1Tim Hecker
Ravedeath, 1972

Probably my favorite ambient album at this point in my foray into the genre. I adore the heaps of distortion and gorgeous shards of live pipe organ. Feels like it genuinely makes a statement on the disposability of art in the modern era. This is the one to beat. 4.7/5
2Tim Hecker
Harmony in Ultraviolet

Probably Hecker's most balanced album, very pretty but not without some teeth, especially towards the end. I don't really have much to say about this one, it's basically just a 50-minute summation of everything Hecker does well. 4.3/5
3Tim Hecker
An Imaginary Country

One of Hecker's more underappreciated works imo, I appreciate the scope and wide variety of tones, and the idea of mapping out a region using sound is one I've always loved. 4.2/5
4Tim Hecker
Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do It Again

Glitchy staticky goodness, starts off a tad shaky but "The Work of Art in The Age of Cultural Overproduction" is possibly Hecker's single best standalone piece and everything after keeps up the momentum with aplomb. 4.2/5
5Tim Hecker
Radio Amor

Feels bad putting this this low but in all fairness, it's only a hair's breadth from being on par with his best. More consistent than HMHMDIG, but lacks a glowing standout like "The Work of Art...". 4.1/5
6Tim Hecker
Dropped Pianos

Definitely not as mindblowing as its parent album, but still fascinating, surprisingly compelling stuff, especially when contrasted with Ravedeath. 4/5
7Tim Hecker
Konoyo

Konoyo feels like a refinement of its predecessors approach, using a live ensemble to create Hecker's most fraught, uncomfortable record yet. My first few listens left the impression that more time was required to unravel all its intricacies, but it hasn't really drawn me back the way I expected it to... 3.9/5
8Tim Hecker
Virgins

This one feels like it needs more time to grow on me. I didn't care for it much at first, but further listens revealed it to have some potency of its own, even despite forgoing so much of what I loved about his previous three albums. 3.7/5
9Tim Hecker
Mirages

Definitely a step down fro Radio Amor, but not a huge one. It's definitely his noisiest, most aggressive project to this point, but it uses distortion and static to create an oddly lulling, peaceful atmosphere. It's nice enough, certainly a worthy addition to Hecker's body of work, but most of the ideas here are ones he explores more fruitfully elsewhere. 3.6/5
10Tim Hecker
Anoyo

I was disappointed by how cold this left me compared to its older sibling, it felt lacking in atmosphere and just overall sonically empty. Not a bad album, but a strange one, and certainly less rewarding than most of his other albums. 3.3/5

Love Streams

I definitely see why this is Hecker's least-lauded release. The idea of incorporating more vocals is a good one in theory, but feels underwhelmingly executed. I especially disliked some of the keyboard tones, which felt awfully uninspired and cheesy. 3/5
