| Bad albums by good bands part 2
To elaborate more on our rules these are not bands we enjoy, but bands that have released critically acclaimed albums or have multiple albums with an average above 3 on Sput
DK=duckking, Me=me | 1 | | Aerosmith Music from Another Dimension
DK: 2, Some alright songs peppered with some annoying shit country songs.
Me: 2, First half was a medicore Aerosmith album, second half was a terrible country album | 2 | | Alice Cooper Zipper Catches Skin
DK: 2, A bizarre departure from Alice's usual fare, with terrible results. Glad he stopped doing this.
Me: 2, The last song dropped my rating by .5 | 3 | | Accept Eat the Heat
DK: 2.5, Generic hair metal redeemed with some interesting bits here and there.
Me: 2.5, If you are a big Accept fan, this probably is a 1. By the numbers hair metal, ballads and all. | 4 | | Queensryche Dedicated to Chaos
DK: 1.5, "Well, at least there's no rap-rock in thi... Nevermind." -DK while listening to the start of one of the songs
Me: 1.5, Absolutely blew, no redeemable qualities. The only thing keeping it from a 1 is that a producer was clearly involved to put it together and make sure it left a studio | 5 | | Lynyrd Skynyrd Last Of A Dyin' Breed
DK: 2, Douchy rock country for people who wear Realtree hats backwards.
Me: 1.5, Riding the coattails of burnt crispy corpses right into modern garbage country-rock | 6 | | David Lee Roth Strummin' With The Devil
DK: 2.5, More fun than I expected, some of the tracks sounded pretty good. David's singing was not good.
Me: 2.5, Any time DLR wasn't singing, it was pretty good | 7 | | Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers The Last DJ
DK: 2, Bland. Very forgettable.
Me: 2, Very boring, but musically competent. | 8 | | Queen Hot Space
DK: 2, Went a bit too avant-garde in a few places, and only one decent track.
Me: 2.5, Album probably came 10 years too late for disco dance, but has Under Pressure so it isn't all bad | 9 | | Heart Private Audition
DK: 2, First song was alright, but went on too long. Rest of the album was dull.
Me: 2, Forgot it was on at a certain point tbh | 10 | | The Doors Other Voices
DK: 2, Hollow and soulless. Just plain sad.
Me: 2, This is the sound of a band contractually obligated to complete an album after the main member dies | 11 | | Starship Knee Deep In The Hoopla
DK: 2.5. Corny pop music, but it's charted songs are fun. It's biggest sin is it's betrayal of it's pedigree.
Me: 2, Every song sounded like it was about to be Playin' with the Boys. Bland 80's pop poop | 12 | | Poison Poison'd!
DK: 2, One decent cover, one good cover, and a whole lotta meh.
Me: 2, Hit and miss, some legitimately good covers and some that should have never made it onto tape | 13 | | David Bowie Never Let Me Down
DK: 2.5, Even at his worst Bowie isn't that bad, but I wanna hear more about the crystal spiders.
Me: 2.5, Generic 80's pop done by Bowie with an awesome avant-garde middle point about glass spiders | 14 | | Judas Priest Demolition
DK: 3, Much better than I was expecting, found myself enjoying a few of the songs.
Me: 3, Album was good, Tim was a decent replacement vocalist for Rob. Not his fault the songwriting sufferd | 15 | | Scorpions Eye II Eye
DK: 1.5, I literally don't remember a single track.
Me: 2, Boring, slow, meh. | 16 | | Boston Life, Love & Hope
DK: 2.5, The first song and the track with the female vocalist were good. Rest was decent.
Me: 2, Pretty boring, generic at parts but had the occasional jam. | 17 | | Various Artists (Rock) Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
DK: 2, Some were ok covers, some were hilarious shit, and it went on for far too long.
Me: 2, The sheer length of it meant that some songs HAD to be good, and were. But only some. | 18 | | Genesis Calling All Stations
DK: 1.5, Just plain boring. Less exciting than a bowl of saltine crackers with water.
Me: 1.5, There's a reason I know who Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins are but have no idea who this clown is | 19 | | Deep Purple Slaves and Masters
DK: 2.5, Wasn't too bad. A few tracks were a bit dull, but I didn't hate it.
Me: 2.5, Had slow boring parts, but overall was an okay record | 20 | | In Flames Battles
DK: 1.5, Sucks ass. Generic nu-metal that wouldn't pass muster on the dying days of KRZR. (local shut down shitty rock station)
Me: 1.5, You shouldn't be able to legally call yourself a band when none of you are original members, album blows | |
Nazzadan
03.08.17 | Lot more varied material in this list. Less Kiss, which is a plus. | wham49
03.08.17 | for what 10 is it is pretty good, to lose Morrison, and still mae a listenable record, that is pretty descent | Nazzadan
03.08.17 | Yeah it wasn't nearly as bad as most of what we listened to. I'd actually probably bump it to a 2.5 | Artuma
03.08.17 | "good bands" | wham49
03.08.17 | the bands are better on this list than the other | Minushuman24
03.08.17 | poison's presence is boggling | Nazzadan
03.08.17 | Poison met the criteria we set. They are a popular band with 3 albums with an average above 3 here.
We also sorta had a rule where if one of us liked the band, they could be on the list regardless of their popularity or average ratings. | Minushuman24
03.09.17 | Ah fair enough, fair enough
You're a brave soul to go through these albums tho | StrikeOfTheBeast
03.09.17 | 14 makes Turbo sound like a masterpiece. | tempest--
03.09.17 | "You shouldn't be able to legally call yourself a band when none of you are original members"
stupid comment, 3 of the members on battles have been in the band for 20 years just cos they didnt form it doesnt mean its not their band | Nazzadan
03.09.17 | I was very angry at the time of writing.
Album still blows hard. | TheMagicalBlender
03.09.17 | I was unaware 12 was a good band. |
