| Experiencing Internet Reduction
So half way through last year I said I'd be visiting the site less...only thing is I was half way through a couple of projects I'd set (listening to a lot of new releases for my end of year lists/discovering as much new music as possible) but this year I've not set myself any such similar goals. Instead I'm planning to resurrect some of my old habits (listed below) that I've missed since rewiring my brain the last couple of years.
List is bands I hope release a new album this year. | 1 | | Portishead Third
Reading novels again. This has stopped to 'just on holidays' (so about two or three a year). Considering before then I used to read about thirty a year that's something that I need to change. It's hard to make time as much now I'm living with someone, but I should at least give it a go...and not always drift straight to the Internet with my free time. | 2 | | Massive Attack Ritual Spirit
Listening to music in darkness/semi darkness / no distractions. I so rarely do this now but it's probably the best way to listen to a lot of music. | 3 | | Lambchop FLOTUS
Going for a walk with headphones for no other purpose than getting to know an album. Again, similar to above, I just rarely do this. The last album I remember doing this for was 'Trouble Will Find Me' which I constantly would 'road test' like this...and it quickly became one of my favourite albums of all time. | 4 | | Tindersticks The Waiting Room
Listening to music and watching the scenery on the train commute. I'm now a 'head down on the iPhone drone' and again, one of the best ways to listen to a new album. | 5 | | The The NakedSelf
Generally less of music listening being the 'secondary' activity when doing things all the time. I mean music is perfect for that too, but I'd like to go back to having it as the 'primary' activity in a given moment in general. | 6 | | Nine Inch Nails Add Violence
I have a tendency to get addicted quick to things, and my obsessiveness knows no bounds, but I can easily apply that approach to then removing the said behaviours (which becomes a goal of itself) - as a kid I was obsessed with video games, they were the main way I'd spend my free time at home, but now I've just cut them out. You can't do that with the internet, but I know I can get back to more like the level I was with it three years ago. | 7 | | Cass McCombs Mangy Love
I still want to reach over a hundred reviews here and I'm not 'retiring' or anything like that...but I won't be here as much in 2018. That's a certainty. Nothing personal, I still love you all :D | |

01.05.18 | Just thought my diminished presence here in the coming months will need an explanation.
I'm really enjoying my 'new music abstinence' (see previous list) and I guess this is almost a logical extension of that.
Or I'm a pussy. You decide. | Mort.
01.05.18 | NO BUT SOWING SHOULD AMIRITE SACHNESS? | zakalwe
01.05.18 | Good old Doof. Holed up collecting piss in jars and rattling out his 25th review of the week.
I do 3 all the time, stroll around the park or the streets just listening to music. I must get called a nonce by locals. Fuck ‘em. | zakalwe
01.05.18 | Good lad! Wait till the end, that’s where it really gets derailed but ultimately rings true.
I say it every time it’s mentioned but what an unbelievable book. Greatest ever. | Papa Universe

01.05.18 | admirable goals for sure. 3 and 4 are important, i wish we had good public transport where I am in the US, it's something i miss quite a lot about the time i spent in Europe. time and space for contemplation and observation | LeftyMcRighty
01.06.18 | I enjoy doing my grocery shopping with my earphones in, especially slightly buzzed. It gives the enjoyment of #3 without worrying about being hit by a car, etc... :D | Orb
01.06.18 | Peace and love brother |
