bloc 01.23.19	I use the Samsung buds that came with my phone when on my laptop, Panasonic buds at the gym, and ATH M50s when playing guitar or producing.
Get Low 01.23.19	I use the Apple earbuds that came with my 6s, which I now use with my Galaxy s9 since Apple doesn't want you to listen to music on their devices anymore.
Mardorien 01.23.19	I recently got the Sennheiser HD600s & a Schiit headphone amp -- they're incredible. You can't go wrong with any of the HD6xx, but I'd now always recommend the HD600s. There's a reason they're still on year-end "best headphone" lists 21 years after their release, but at this price range so much is just "I prefer the sound" as opposed to intrinsically better, so I'd recommend trying to find somewhere to listen to them if you can.

Sinternet 01.23.19	my two favourite 'affordable' headphones are the akg k702 and my main production headphones the beyerdynamic dt770 pro (80 ohm). they are both incredible and would recommend to anyone
supremejelly 01.28.19	I've heard good things about the k702's, but that their fit isn't too great for people with small ears. Gotta try those out and see for myself. I tried the Senn HD660s in person, my first open-back, and liked em, but their soundstage was a little more narrow than I was expecting. My closed-back A900X have great soundstage for a closed, and I have a virtual surround setup (using HeSuVi) so my expectations for soundstage are a little skewed now I think. Btw all, I saw this source of ideal EQ settings for 1100+ headphones https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/92b08s/eq_settings_for_700_headphones/, highly recommend everyone gives it a look.

"but that their fit isn't too great for people with small ears." i don't know where or why you heard that, their earcups (on k702s) are super wide and comfy. & i have huge ears. K702's are more comfortable than HD650s (for me) HD650's have a better low end than the K702s. the K702s have a more interesting soundstage, but the highs can get a little exhausting. also.. the K702 cable isn't detachable from the headphones.. ridiculous oversight. if i could have only one between the two, it'd be the HD650s. the massdrop HD6xxs shouldn't disappoint you. K702's are still great! but a lot of bassier music just won't move you
JWT155 01.28.19	I have Sennheiser HD 598's that are fantastic. Fair warning though, open ear will let ANYONE near you hear your music, almost like it's on a small speaker. It's not like a small sound leak either, everyone will hear it crystal clear. I love my pair but it's almost exclusively for in my room or office when I'm alone. Anytime I'm in public or other people are in the room (think library, bus, office area with other coworkers) they will hear and they will not like it. So if you plan on using these in public at all I'd recommend not getting open ear. Now if these are for private use then go ahead, they're fantastic! I also have Audio Technica ATH M-50's which are great and don't leak sound.
JWT155 01.28.19	Also fuck in ear, over ear are so much more comfortable. That being said I still wear earbuds in public, but at home over ear all day erry day.
supremejelly 02.01.19	@budgie Thanks for the info, I'm definitely considering the 6xx but the 58x also look tempting. @JWT I've heard so many mixed things about the M-50s, some people praise them but then some act like they killed their family or something. And since you have the 598's, maybe you'd know if these are good? https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-sennheiser-hd-58x-jubilee-headphones/talk#discussions For their price of $150 people seem to rave about these guys. My A900x are crackling a bit, so I think it's time I upgrade :) (but also :( because money) . Although I could see if replacement pads would help, apparently those are sometimes a reason for crackling, but that makes no sense to me.

supremejelly 02.01.19	Is the bass overwhelming on those things? I prefer pretty subtle bass so I try to stay away from the headphones advertised as bass-heavy.
StrikeOfTheBeast 02.01.19	Nah it's not bad. The bass is very crisp and clean without that "loudness war" feel to it.

supremejelly 02.11.19	@Sinternet I just picked up the DT770 Pro (250 Ohm) for $130 from Massdrop. I plan on using them mostly for my electronic drums since I hear the isolation is pretty good. Like you said, they're really good for studio work apparently. Thanks for the rec I also got the JBS Atom amp, apparently it's amazing for its $100 price. Too bad it's on backorder, ugh.

zeitgeistaddendum2 02.11.19	I used in-ear buds for thousands of years and I was convinced it was the best sound I'd ever hear. Then, I tried the JBL Everest 700. It's an over-ear headphone and it's got great sound quality. However, it tends to get uncomfortable after wearing it for more than 2/3 hours
EphemeralEternity 02.11.19	Headphones: Audio Technica m50x (recommend - comfortable, solid sound quality for a reasonable price tag - around $200 ) Earphones: Senheisser Momentum true wireless earbuds (recommend - best sound quality wireless earphones by far but only 4 hour charge and quite pricey. I got mine discounted from $500 to $290 by the manager as we had been talking for about half an hour and I think she was trying to flirt with me, or you know they mark them up from 100 bucks, either way I couldn't let that pass)

EphemeralEternity 02.11.19	Nah they're the best quality earphones on the market, comfortable and look very subtle from the outside. The case charges them for an additional 8 hours and takes about an hour. Basically if you don't want the noise and inconvenience of the cable but don't want to sacrifice any sound quality. I figure I listen to music for several hours per day so I mind paying for a good product.
Sinternet 02.11.19	oh nice dude, yeah they're a wondrous thing, have the 80ohm version myself so I don't have to carry an amp into the studios at my uni but they have done wonders for my mixing and such. also most comfortable headset out there really, those pads are gorgeously soft and lightweight
Trophycase 02.11.19	I've got sennheiser 598. I like them and they are comfortable, sound quality seems fine for what you're getting but nothing spectacular. I saw comments about sound "leak" because they are open back, but really don't notice that much at all unless you're pretty close to them. Dunno if I'd buy them again, mostly because I'd want to try something else. But really they are super comfortable.
