Albums/Artists Deserving More Attention!!
These are some albums/artists that I really think are overlooked. They're all quality (IMO ofcourse), I'm just astounded they don't have more attention than they do. I'd love to browse through discussion on these albums & see others' opinions, but there's just not a lot said about these out there.

1 | | Reto a Ichi The Lapse Of The Exchange / Alone Moving Often
A supposed alias of Prefuse 73, these joint albums are some of P73's best work I've ever heard. Much more nuanced, atmospheric, and wiry than what else I've heard from him. This has become my go-to album to study to and I'd love others to listen and share their opinions. I swear there's a couple samples on here I recognize I'd love to decipher, but there's 0 resources on these albums.
Highlights: "It's Her Birthday," "All Regrets," "Criminality," "Duration Meditation," "Noise Counter Melody" |
2 | | Lift to Experience The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads
Apocalyptic post-rock/shoegaze w/ USWestern sensibilities. Weird, spiritual, satirical, epic, beautiful, and humorous - there's not an act quite like this one was. & I dare say this may be my favorite shoegaze creation.
Highlights: "Falling from Cloud 9," "These Are the Days," "Waiting to Hit" |
3 | | Taylor McFerrin Early Riser
Under Flying Lotus' label Brainfeeder, reminiscent of the man himself - McFerrin (son of Bobby) brings some sick, atmospheric downtempo electronic music with soul, indie, & jazz.
Highlights: "The Antidote," "PLS DNT LSN" "Degrees of Light" |
4 | | Vladislav Delay Whistleblower
Out-there experimental electronic composition ambience. I do not know how to articulate my thoughts on this album well, but I keep coming back to it so that must mean I like it a good bit. |
5 | | Sorceress Dose
R&B with IDM/Downtempo electronic atmosphere, there's some real bops on here.
Highlights: "Brother Dragonfly," "Treat the Feel" "Shifting" "Stutter Step" |
6 | | Ambrose Akinmusire The Imagined Sailor Is Far Easier To Paint
A great statement of jazz and its place in the modern era, this man was featured on TPAB & this album in particular has a lot to chew on. I'm not too much a fan of his recent album.
Highlights: "Our Basement" "The Beauty of Dissolving Portraits" "Rollcall for those Absent" |
7 | | Dawn of Midi Dysnomia
A three piece jazz-band (piano, bass, drum) playing acoustic techno music. Maybe not riveting or climactic, but an interesting listen I come back to often.
Highlights: "Atlas" "Nix" "Ymir" |
8 | | William Parker The Peach Orchard
A more modern experimental free-jazz behemoth. Demands immense patience and space.
Highlights: "Thot," T/T, "Leaf Dance" |
