Best Italian Metal Albums post 2000 (in development)

A list of great Italian metal albums release since 2000. If you like what you hear, give a good rating on the band's page.
1Vision Divine
The Perfect Machine

Another masterpiece by Olaf Thorsen. The concept is very interesting, and the music (progressive/power metal, with a wonderful lineup: Smirnoff's and Thorsen's neoclassical solos, Puleri's thrash riffs and an astounding drummer like Morini) is amazing. 10/10
2Thy Majestie
The Lasting Power

Epic/symphonic Power metal with a medieval flavour. The perfect album that Rhapsody will never able to record. 8.5/10
3Spite Extreme Wing
Non dvcor, dvco

Black metal with italian poetical lyrics. 9/10
4Disarmonia Mundi
Nebularium

A great mix of melodic death, thrash and progressive. 9/10
5Dark Lunacy
The Diarist

Melodic Death Metal with Russian choruses. 8/10
6Ufomammut
Idolum

The masterpiece of the first half of the band's life. In comparison to "Eve", the psychedelic element is less represented, but it's a great post metal album as well. 8/10
7Spite Extreme Wing
Vltra

After the raw black metal of the previous album, Spite Extreme Wing turn to an incredibile avantgarde metal. The best Is the cover of Helter Skelter. 9.5/10
8Absentia Lunae
In Umbrarum Imperii Gloria

Black metal with industrial elements. "Memneso on" is a wonderful song. 8/10
9StormLord
Mare Nostrum

The masterpiece of the band: death, melodic black and mediterranean folk. 9/10
10Gory Blister
Skymorphosis

Technical death metal in the style of Death. 8/10
11Forgotten Tomb
Negative Megalomania

Depressive black metal mixed with depressive rock. It could be remind Shining's "V - Halmstad" or Lifelover's "Konkurs". But it's even better. 10/10
12Raintime
Flies and Lies

Power and death metal mixed together, with a modern Mood wich reminds "Come Clarity" by In Flames and "Deathcrew Hateroll" by Children of Bodom. 8.5/10
13Inchiuvatu
Piccatu

Black/Death with flutes and lyrics in Sicilian language. 9/10
14Lacuna Coil
Comalies

In spite of every prejudice, this is a very good Gothic Metal album, full of odd and beautiful songs. 8.5/10
15Hortus Animae
Waltzing Mephisto

Progressive rock and black metal. 8.5/10
165 Star Grave
Corpse Breed Syndrome

What if Children of Bodom meets Murderdolls? An horror-porn death/power metal album. 9/10
17Edenshade
Ceramic Placebo for a Faint Heart

Progressive and death metal, with clean vocals and poetical lyrics. It's very original. 8/10
18Aborym
Generator

Aborym explore more symphonic soundscapes in their journey through BM. The result is a very good album, which seems an industrial version of Dimmu Borgir's "Puritanical Euphorica Misantropia". 8.5/10
19Stormlord
The Gorgon Cult

Good Symphonic Black Metal. 8/10
20Ufomammut
Eve

The zenith reached by the band from Tortona. A psychedelic way to thinking about Sludge metal, without losing an ounce of heaviness. 9/10
21Elvenking
The Scythe

The usual Folk Power Metal of the band in this release appears to be mixed with Melodic Death influences which add more variety to the band's proposal. The melodies here are great. 9/10
22Vision Divine
The 25th Hour

The second chapter of the concept begun with Stream of Consciousness, and the last with the amazing singer Michele Luppi. 8/10
23Assedium
Rise of the Warlords

Among the plenty of Epic Metal bands risen in Italy between 1999 and 2007 (Holy Martyr, Doomsword, Wotan, Etrusgrave, ecc.), this is one of the best. 8/10
24Aleph
In Tenebra

A very strange Progressive Metal album, full of doomish and deathrash influences. A dark jewel. 8.5/10
25Forgotten Tomb
Songs to Leave

Pure depressive BM. 8.5/10
26Infliction
The Silencer

A catchy melodic deathrash metal album, with some influences from Sentenced. 8/10
27White Skull
Public Glory, Secret Agony

Another great album from the best Classic Power Metal band in Italy. 8.5/10
28Domine
Emperor of the Black Runes

This is the best album by the band from Florence. The Epic Metal of the two earlier albums is mixed with the Power Metal of the previous album, for a very balanced result. 8/10
29Highlord
When the Aurora Falls.....

A great power metal album in the style of Stratovarius. 8/10
30Maldoror
In Saturn Mystique

Another black diamond by the band from Turin. In its last work before the band changed its name, Maldoror continue on the path of Symphonic BM of its debut, but adds some very interesting EBM elements (in particular on "Osiris Elettro Mantrum"), which remind the Aborym's debut "Kali Yuga Bizarre" (which was released the previous year). 8.5/10
31Progenie Terrestre Pura
U.M.A.

Amazing debut for one of the best avantgarde bands in Europe. U.M.A. is the perfect crossover between post rock, psychedely, progressive and black metal I've ever listen at. 9.5/10
32Abhor (ITA)
I.gne N.atura R.enovatur I.ntegra

A great album of occult BM, with interesting lyrical themes. 8.5/10
33Dark Quarterer
Pompei

Dark Quarterer over the top. In 2020 the old band guided by Gianni Nepi hits the target: great arrangements, jazzy mood and the ability to amaze every time. It could be the best band in this list. 8.5/10
34Vision Divine
Stream of Consiousness

A true masterpiece of Progressive Power Metal, as the two following albums of the band. 10/10
35StormLord
Far

Another great album from the Capitoline band. It continues in the mood of "Mare Nostrum", but it's even more epic and symphonic. 8/10
36Inchiuvatu
Viogna

The most various and fresh among Inchiuvatu's alubms. Even the interludes are great (try listen to "Chi scuru chi c'รจ"), and the tracks are more complex and better recorded than the earlier works. 8/10
37Hortus Animae
The Blow of Furious Winds...

Another step forward for the band, which enriches its sound with gothic & symphonic elements, and complex prog arrangements. The violin, then, is handled beautifully. 9/10
38Opera IX
Maleventum

Probably the most mature work by the band. It continues in the style of the previous one, but with better arrangements. 8.5/10
39Dark Quarterer
Symbols

After the proggy twist of the previous album, the band releases its best work since "Etruscan Prophecy". "Symbols" is a prog metal album, full of references to '70 prog and classic HM, with intelligent lyrics, very good and "catchy" songs and a great performance of the musicians. 9/10.
40Progenie Terrestre Pura
oltreLuna

On its second album, Progenie Terrestre Pura adds to its progressive/electronic/post Black metal a great amount of psybient. The result is excellent. 9/10
41Hortus Animae
Secular Music

Hortus Animae continue their evolution by incorporating elements of modern Melodic Death. The result is, as always, excellent. 8.5/10
42Novembre
Novembrine Waltz

The album of November's maturity. Melancholy atmospheres, prog digressions and a splendid Kate Bush's cover. 8.5/10
43Abhor (ITA)
Occulta religiO

Abhor comes back with a dirty and lisergic album, which could remind of Abysmal Grief or Cultes des Ghoules (8/10)
44Ad Nauseam
Imperative Imperceptible Impulse

A masterpiece in modern technical death metal. The influences by Deathspell Omega, Ulcerate and Gorguts are rielaborated in a personal, psychotic way. 9/10
45Crown of Autumn
Byzantine Horizons

After a mediocre come back, Crown of Autumn released a great album, which expands the band's proposal to Power and Black metal, in addition to the early gothic/folk/melodeath of the debut. 9/10
46Novembre
The Blue

Novembre always hits the target. "The Blue", althought It's not its masterpiece, is a truly solid record of proggy Death/Doom metal. 8/10
47Malombra
The Dissolution Age

In this album Malombra abandons the dark prog of previous releases, to approach a sound that owes the most electronic gothic drifts. The result is excellent, even if lower than the previous masterpieces. 8/10
48Monumentum
Ad Nauseam

Even if the previous album was a masterpiece, "Ad Nauseam" is a step ahead. The mix of gothic, Doom, elettronica and darkwave is sublime. 9/10
49Hirpus
Ianuaria

A ferocious and martial black metal album, icy in its gait. 8/10
50Veneror
Percussimus Foedus cum Morte

Occult black metal, a surprising record. 8.5/10
51Will 'O' Wisp
Unseen

Will 'o' Wisp returns with an album that distances itself from the Death Metal matrix of the first album, embracing purely Avantgarde sounds that will delight Phlebotomized and Atrox fans. 8.5 / 10
52Sadist
Sadist

A great comeback for the Ligurian band. The songs show all the elegance and power of the early '90s. 9/10
53Disarmonia Mundi
Mind Tricks

Great Melodic death metal album, full of catchy melodies and a great performance by Speed Strid. 8.5/10
54Eldritch
Eos

Eldritch returns to its original, progressive style, with a very soldi record. 8/10
55Paul Chain
Cosmic Wind

A true masterpiece of bluesy improvisations. 9/10
56Paul Chain
Master of All Times

Paul Chain explores his space rock and blues roots in a surprinsing psychedelic blues album. 8.5/10
57Paul Chain
Sign from Space

The second step of the blues tetralogy by Paul Chain. 8.5/10
58Vertebra Atlantis
Lustral Purge in Cerulean Bliss

Vertebra's debut album Atlantis is a compendium of what has been best brought to you in recent years by the post death / black metal scene. A group capable of combining Emperor, Ulcerate and Evoken deserves consideration. 8.5 / 10
59Eldritch
Reverse

Eldritch, after the progressive glories of the memorable "Ill Nino", completely change direction and propose a groove album, technical and full of modern influences. Upon its release the album was opposed by early fans, and caused a crisis that threw the band into the ranks of minor bands. Years later, "Reverse" remains an album to be rediscovered and enjoyed in all its freshness. 8.5 / 10
60Presence (ITA)
Gold

The latest, great album by Sophya Baccini & co. Although a little more "mannered" than its very fresh predecessors, "Gold" is an album on the border between progressive rock and metal, perfect in composition and execution. Never so epic, never so dark, Presence creates its latest great masterpiece. 8.5 / 10
61Noise Trail Immersion
Symbology of Shelter

Another band which embrace the dissonant sound of I, Voidhanger's roster. NTI develop a weird path which join mathcore, post hardcore and black metal in a truly horrifying album. 9/10
62Forgotten Tomb
Love's Burial Ground

The second masterpiece by the Depressive BM master's. 8.5/10
