My favorite albums, rec me some similar albums.
1Manchester Orchestra
I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child

This one appeals to me the most out of their discography for some reason. I love all
of them, don't get me wrong, but the stripped down feel to some of the songs, the
rawness, the lyrical genius blooming in Andy, and the connection I feel to the songs
just all make it a great album. In terms of technicality, METN is probably superior,
but I prefer this
2Pierce The Veil
Selfish Machines

Sorry for being a teenager. I hate the scene crowd and most of the bands, despite
most of my friends being in it. I exhaust myself everyday explaining how 'screamo'
doesn't apply to Pierce the Veil to the point I want to put a diamond bullet in my
head(Heh heh) But this album, and artist, are one of the few that really held up to
me when I listened to Black Veil Brides and Escape the Fate. I never listened to
Blood on the Dancefloor or Brokencyde if that relieves any of you. But Vic's
ridiculously nasally voice, the sickly sweet suicide notes, and the spanish
breakdowns make it sound like the worst thing imaginable, but turns out pretty
damn good.
3Lorde
Pure Heroine

I've lost most of you by now but smh. I love Lorde. Her attitude towards the media,
celebrities, and 'the wicked games' are admirable, especially in the role of a 16-17
year old pop star. It's not just her sweet and playful, yet cynical lyrics that make
her music stand out, I genuinely like it. The beats are quirky, and sometimes
minimal, but the whole album really conveys her feelings. Awkward and out of
place, but remembering what she had and not forgetting it.
4Right Away, Great Captain!
The Eventually Home

I love Andy Hull. His lyrics, his voice, his beard. This is indie folk at it's simplest and
saddest. The concept of a 16th century discovering his wife had committed
adultery leads you to feeling his shock, his melancholy, and his rage. Not quite on
the level of classics like For Emma, but it's close.
5The Neighbourhood
I'm Sorry...

I heard Sweater Weather last summer and it perked my interest to say the least. I
listened to the EP, then the album and found I liked the EP better. They all had the
same atmosphere, and the tracks on the album were similar, but I just found the EP
songs catchier and lyrically better since Afraid was a big turn off for me.
6Taylor Swift
Speak Now

"Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain. Kiss me on the sidewalk, take
away the pain" I've despised country forever. Which sucks because I live in North
Carolina. I love folk, I hate country. I don't get the appeal of driving down dirt
roads in a pickup truck. I fantasize about committing genocide against the
rednecks. I resumed after I heard a track labeled as 'Hick-Hop'. But Taylor's
different for me. My first song from her was Love Story(The Romeo and Juliet one) I
recently started listening to her after a(You guessed it) recent breakup. It was
more complicated than that but I'm not going to rant.(You're welcome) She started
off kind of like Lorde in my opinion. Simple, sweet, innocent, and pretty naive, but
in a good way. Her music was simple and sweet. Nothing groundbreaking, but I liked
it that way.
7Death Cab for Cutie
Transatlanticism

I don't think this needs a deep explanation. Most of you have felt the same things
as me.
8 The Pretty Reckless
Hit Me Like A Man EP

These guys(And girl) are a new favorite for me. They remind me of Halestorm, with
the gruff female vocalist and grungy guitars. I liked this better than their new album
, mainly because of Under The Water
9Brand New
The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me

Again, I don't think this needs an explanation.
10Moving Mountains
Pneuma

This band is a mix of all my favorite genres:Post-Hardcore, Post-Rock, and Indie
Rock. I tried finding more like them, but the closest I got was The Appleseed Cast,
so I'd appreciate recommendations for this one.
11Modest Mouse
The Lonesome Crowded West

My dad loves this band. He got into them when he heard Good News, but I can't
blame him since most other people did. This album is my favorite, with The Moon
and Antarctica right behind it. It has that confessional, I'm sorry feel to it, but with
a touch more cynicism.
12Margot & the Nuclear So And So's
The Dust Of Retreat

Hate the name, love the band.
13 Portugal. The Man
The Satanic Satanist.
14The xx
xx
15City and Colour
Sometimes
16Cage the Elephant
Cage the Elephant
17La Dispute
Rooms of the House
18Bring Me The Horizon
Sempiternal

Half nostalgia and half good music. This was one of the first heavy-ish albums I
listened to and shared it with all my friends. For the rest of the school year, and
Summer, we were screaming THIS IS SANDPIT TURTLE and when Winter came,
Deathbeds was perfect for me. There are some slipups on the album, that go back
to the party metal mess that was Suicide Season, and some awkward electronic
metalcore moments that were on There Is A Hell. The electronics are great at times
but feel forced and out of place on others. Best tracks are Hospital for Souls, And
The Snakes Start To Sing, Deathbeds, Shadow Moses, and Sleepwalking.
